Crushed on the Glass

Last year we were 72.1% defensive rebounding...middle of the pack

Paul 9.2%
Cam 11.3%
Caleb 13.6
Hyatt 13.3% or Mag 17.0%
Cliff 24.5%

Simpson 6.7% last year
Ferrnandes 8.8% last year
Gavin 10% is a guess
Hyatt 13.3%
Cliff 24.5%
That is only 64.2%

Defensive rebounding is a problem.

This is playing man. Imagine if we play zone!
I agree..and some people here want us to play zone. We’re already not a good rebounding team and with our two small guards, playing a zone would be a disaster…especially vs. a good shooting team that was already shooting over our guards while we were playing m2m.

This team will have to rely on quickness and I’m not sure we were even much quicker than Princeton.

Quite a few comments on the board suggesting we would have won this game with Mag. Might be true but I’m doubtful and I’m afraid we are overestimating his presence. He’s going to be a big help, but he only looked like he was starting to “breakout” a bit during his last 10 games or so before he got hurt. prior to that, lots of fans thought he should sit in favor of Hyatt. His loss was huge last year as it disrupted the chemistry tremendously. However, he’s coming off a major injury, and who knows how he will fit with a lot of new players, and whether he reverts to his play of the first half of last season. No doubt, we need him, but expecting a lot from him this season might be a mistake.

It’s gonna take time I think

In my eyes there are 2 Mags
1. The Mag before the injury
2. The Mag we get this year

Mag 1 we beat Princeton, no doubt in my mind.

I fear Mag 2 could be (didn't say will be) a shell of himself. A Mag at 50% probably doesn't move needle at all.

If we didnt miss double digit layups we wouldnt even have this convo.

I was a little mystified seeing our guys standing around on rebounding scenarios. Cliff himself bobbled a few as well. Princeton is good but we should of been able to win.
