I'm avoiding all the off the field stuff. Just wanted to discuss things I like and don't like right now. Feel free to address an point and counter/agree.

1) Austin and Wharton are already ahead of where the CBs were 2 years ago when we went through the First Freshman Secondary. This freshman secondary shows a lot of promise. I doubt Austin plays Saturday as he looked shaken up, but he is a star. That is the prototype player NFL teams are looking for.

2) Laviano has spunk. There is something to be said about moxie. The kid has that. Should he or Rettig be the starter? I really don't care. I care about what is out there. And I liek what I'm seeing. Do his mechanics break down? Yes, all the time. But plenty of guys have succeeded at the college level with terrible mechanics. If he were blessed enough to play at the next level, I'll let the next level fans complain about the mechanics.

3) Quentin Gause is silently having a huge year. He clocked the punter on that scoop and score for Turay. I think he has made himself some money this year. He is the epitome of why he don't judge a sophomore so harshly. He took his lumps. He progressed. and now as a senior, he is a stud.

4) Spotlight is on Denman Saturday. I can guarantee you right now Bosa is gonna be lined up over him 75% of the time. It's been up and down for JJ this year. He'll have this chance to make up for his tough day against Nassib.

5) There was a thread comparing Carroo/Britt/Sanu the other day. It's Carroo. It's not even close. Every team has game planned for Carroo for 2 years now. How many bad games has he had? Michigan State last year? Kind of makes you wonder how much offensive play he should have gotten as a freshman over guys like Mark Harrison.

1. If we can keep Rene, our cb positions look damn good going down the road.

2. I think Laviano has already shown why the coaching staff went with him. It's also nice to know that we have another qb on the sidelines that almost beat out Laviano for the top spot.

3.Gause is playing as well as anyone could expect at his position. #50 is all over the place every game.

4. Denman....or whoever has to try to block Bosa....is gonna need help.

5. I don't know how....or why....one could choose between Carroo and Sanu. They're both all you could ask for from a wide out. I guess they could have a little more speed. Perhaps RU is now becoming WRU.

Not for nothing, didn't Caroo drop the pass that would have won us the game against L'ville, and the Big East championship?

It's not like we shelled him that year.

The team has shown except for Washington State that they can defeat opponents that they are expected to win against. On the other hand,I am doubtful that Rutgers will defeat a team with a winning record when the season is over.Talking about players means very little unless it translates into wins on the playing field.

Both Mark Harrison and Tim Wrong dropped passes that game.

Wasn't that the game where Wright not only dropped one pass that would have been a huge play for RU but also batted another one up into the air , making for an easy interception for the 'Ville ?

ahh good times... I would take our current batch of WRs over them any day. Our current ones may not be athletic freaks like before but at least they catch consistently. I can only recall 1 or 2 drops all season...

Destroying the punter was an awesome play by Gause. He is the type of kid you root for. He works hard, brings it every game, has positive energy and is well spoken. It isn't a surprise he is having monster year.

This thread has brought back all kinds of terrible memories. But to clear things up...

Harrison was an athletic freak that suffered major dropsies. But none as infamous as...

Tim Wright dropping a likely TD pass against Louisville in the 2012 showdown for the BCS bid OR

the worst... Otherwise sure-handed Townsend dropping an absolute floater - and likely game-winner - in the endzone against WVU in what became the triple-overtime heartbreaker.
