Darius Stills has decommited from Rutgers

You pay $5 for a $40 buffet/feast.

If that's all he paid for what he got, (and the person who responded to my original post didn't include any info. about that pitiful amount), then I wish RU would send him a bill, (and for quite a bit more than a measly 5 bucks). -Of course, there's no way Rutgers would do that, but in this particular case it's something I certainly wouldn't mind happening because, well...just because.

But hey, "The Hunt" goes on, so...next!

C'mon. I now people feel we got played, but this is on the coaching staff. If they didn't know there was a very high likelihood it would play out exactly as it did, they are idiots. Every moderately informed fan knew this was likely to happen. The kid played the cards we dealt him. Good for him.

Bring back Flood:chairshot:

You know this board would be melting down if this happened under his tenure.

I was going to post a "We can't lose recruits, Ash must go" thread but I was afraid too many people wouldn't understand the [/sarcasm] at the end of the post.

You're happy for him...fine. Enjoy.

Why not? No one loses here. All the people whose feelings are hurt and who are saying we got played need to wake up. The staff are not idiots. They are just playing the game. They knew this may be the result, and offered, and it played out the way it did. So be it. Its no loss to us, and the kid got what he wanted. It simply doesn't matter!

Why do you think we pulled the offer? If we really cared, that would not have been the response. We pulled it because it was a longshot to begin with, and when it didn't work, we moved on.

Look, let's just drop it. Things played out the way they did, and so be it. -Let's just look forward to getting the kids who really want to be here.

Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes the bear eats you.
One of my favorite quotes.
seems like it was just yesterday he commited
You are so droll!
I like the staff yanking the offer.
Yep, and sounds like he's already whining about it. Tough titty kid!
Why spend any more time talking about what is not such a big deal!
Because it's a decommitment and it's still a week before training camp commences. What else are we gonna talk about, unless you want to start a thread about everyone's favorite pizza place.

At least he didn't dally around over this and keep us waiting well into the fall. He made the change quickly and that gives our coaching staff plenty of time to implement Plan B (or Plan A, if Stills was Plan B).

The RU coaches had the WVU offer discussion with Stills before he committed, so he goes home gets an WVU offer forgets what he said to the coaches when he committed, and they pulled the offer after he commits to WVU, clearly not the "trust" the RU coaches were looking for. So done deal in early August move on, better than screwing around in January when your options are limited.

I keep thinking of that line from Casablanca.

"I'm shocked...shocked to find that gambling is going on here."

Come on, fellas. The minute you read the first story of his commitment you had to wonder a) why WVU hadn't offered and b) what he would do if/when they did. No surprise here.

Did they pull his offer after he decommitted? If not then great move on our part. If they pulled the offer after he decommitted then it does not matter.
From NJ.com:
Stills appears to be trying to make it clear that he broke up with us before we got a chance to break up with him.

I have no patience for or interest in guys who see Rutgers as a place to park their commitments until something better comes along, and I know that's something we're going to continue to have to deal with for at least a few years, if not more.

That said, Shane letting him know that we're going to make a clean break of it was definitely the right thing to do, IMO.

I saw a guy named Ross the number 1 recruit in W.V. commiteed out of state.....with an SEC and Acc,Marshall offer....Stills must be a stiff??? 2 Stars AFTER HE committed to us? UR until he did.....bad juju..bye bye

Doesn't really matter who ended the relationship, its obvious it wouldn't have been a strong one and break-up could have happened later even if WV didn't offer.
Darius decommitting was best for all involved , Rutgers will replace him and Stills will go where he wants to go.

I'll have to cancel my Stills jersey order I guess.

WVU's wall around their state is stronger and taller than ever.
LOL, it sure is. Derek Pitts to State Penn, Billy Ross to UNC, Dorian Etheridge to Louisville, Riley Locklear to Tennessee, OH, yeah, they're rocking it on the Country Roads. LOL, class rank 47.

WVU slapped this family hard, didn't even offer a legacy top five in state player until after he committed elsewhere. They should have told Dana to stick his offer where the sun don't shine.

Sadly, Darius may end up finishing his career playing in the AAC after the B12 implodes.
