Dean Peterson

FYI most of these athletes contact someone on the team or RTC prior to entering the portal to gauge interest. Or the parents contact a parent. I know those aren't the juicy rumors people want but it's the truth. Dean was contacting teams before he portaled and not just one
I heard Nebraska

If true, then he wanted out no matter what as he was whoring himself out for a while now. Not a good look for our coaches and we've been saying that a lot lately.

My opinion it's probably more about tasting it twice in R12 and not getting it done and knowing you've 1 more chance and thinking I need a fresh start for this last year. I don't think it's anything the coaches did or didn't do.
If what you're saying is true, sure it is. In his mind, they can't get him on the podium. So, while that may not be their fault they couldn't convince him it wasn't and he no longer trusted that they're the ones to get him to that goal. Thus, he started to look around for those he thought could.

He couldn't get himself on the podium. He practically got ridden out by Steve-O the entire match. Truth is, he is a Jekyll and Hyde wrestler. Beats the guys he is supposed to lose to and then loses to the guys he's supposed to beat. I'm sure having a variety of high caliber, new partners will help him out, but I think it's always been a mental thing with DP. Putting up points is what separates the good from great wrestlers. I just don't see him turning into this amazing top wrestler all of a sudden. Not saying he won't AA, but I just don't see him jumping drastic levels either. Also, guys from Iowa get banged up. Not sure his knee could take their training. Wish he would have finished at RU.

No way we could match it my friend. Yes Iowa poached him which is what I said. After agreeing to our deal he never came back after their huge offer.
This one is also total bullshit - NO deal was ever agreed to and the "deal" was an insult at best so get your facts straight brother and stop spreading lies. Do better...

Go back where you came from, you joined today to call out the most respected RU wrestling fan there is. Me thinks you are the liar & you need to leave!

How about since you seem to have direct knowledge of the situation that you explain to us what the situation is from your perspective. The user that you've called out has the most credibility of any poster on this board.

Word is deluca and Peterson became friends when deluca would train at the skwc and he helped recruit Peterson to Iowa
When was that? When Buxton was here?

Saw a rumor he got $400k from Iowa 😲. Don't blame anyone for jumping at that $, especially since there's not a lot of $ in wrestling when you're done with college, unless you're 1 of the top elites.

That would be pretty wild considering Hendrickson got $500k from Okie state last year and he was already an AA and top 3 at his weight

400k sounds like a like considering some of the Iowa fan base don’t seem satisfied with “only” getting a R12er.
So then the Little Rock transfers got what? $750 since they were AAs? I understand Iowa has deep pockets but I don’t think these numbers add up. Again considering top wrestler and returning AA in Hendrickson got $500k last year

If you want I can tell you the results of his Tuesday meeting on our offer. Good for Dean. I am happy for him and hope he prospers

You don’t need to explain yourself to anyone Bill. This stuff is so out of control that it’s insanity.
All of this simply points out that college sports as we knew them are gone. Let’s go with multi year contracts for players and require “student” athletes to take 3 credits per semester to keep the sham of SAs going. By only requiring 3 credits there will be massive savings on scholarship costs. Room, board, and tuition will be paid out of the players contract earnings. Trades among schools will be allowed and each sport will have a players union. Team will no longer be the Rutgers Scarlet Knight Wrestling team but rather Scarlet Knights Wrestling presented by Rutgers.
While I’m being somewhat facetious we are not that far away from this being reality.

It was truly a great ride. Had a lot of fun and met some very nice people and made some new friends. Unfortunately, it’s over as we knew it. $$$$

Tbh I’ll be very surprised if DP doesn’t AA over there.
I will be, too - if he puts the effort into it. His performance this past year was inconsistent, as reflected by his ranking, which resembled a yo-yo. If he isn't consistent at Iowa, I think they'll replace him in the lineup. If he is consistent and does well, he has a great chance of AA or even high AA, which has to reflect on the program in either his development or their ability to motivate. Most certainly, he'll have training partners who are superior in numbers and talent over what's available at Rutgers.

With Dean it is all mental He clearly has the ability and if he believes he can do it and applies an offensive approach to his attacks he can beat anyone. Also he could lose to anyone as evidenced by his CB loss to LIU in first bout at home. I will root for him that he wins every match except against RU.

I heard it was 400K also.

I saw an Iowa fan post a video of Dean talking about the transfer situation and Mineo while streaming himself playing video games . Peterson claims that mineo is lying about the offer and that someone he thought was his friend is feeding the info to Pat, says that it was never about money and he felt “Rutgers didn’t want him anymore” so that’s why he left ….personally Peterson sounded like he was full of 💩

We sure wanted him but maybe he felt he was worth more than what we offered. To each his own and for Dean perception was reality. Case closed and now on to Smith/Gibson.
Got it so Dean out, Smith/Gibson in. Now how are we replacing the production of Turley/Soldano/Poz/Yara….

Agree, but as with other good recruits with potential, those two need to be developed without excuses of "not panning out". We know something about Gibson's potential from his youth performance. Keep him healthy and get him some good training. Smith also has potential if they get him in a serious weight and strength program. There have been too many missed opportunities in the past, including recently.
