Do you think Pike will have Myles front Garza? With his length and long arms it would not be easy to get him the ball over the top.

Also with the defensive intensity and length of our guards we could make entry passes by their guards very difficult.

Sometimes, but put excessive heat on their guards so they have trouble making entry passes.

Stating the obvious, he’s a tough cover because he’s a big dude that can move and he can shoot.

If he’s in the paint I’d have Myles play his normal D. If he’s outside, Myles should play off a little and try to get Garza to shoot, IMO. Garza inside or driving to the hoop has MJ foul trouble written all over it.

I think Myles can slow down Garza a bit but the real focus should be shutting down their guards. Our guards are way more athletic than theirs and should be able to lock them down. Their freshman Joe Touissant is also turnover prone. Make Garza have to do everything himself and Rutgers wins this game

I would double team him off of McCaffery and Toussaint.

Can't double off of Wieskamp or Frederick.
Agree I would rather let Garza get some 2 point buckets than the other guys nailing threes but like its stated we have to pray that Myles stays out of foul trouble because as we have seen 2 things when he is not in foul trouble we WIN and we shut down the oppositions big man lets hope we do that tonight and we win

Garza is too good not to "get his". Keeping them off the offensive glass and shutting down Wieskamp and Frederick is much more important.

If Garza likes shooting threes, we should make him feel as comfortable as possible out there. I don’t care how good he shoots it. That keeps Myles on the floor for 30 minutes.

I'd take a different approach. Come out of the locker room with fake bushy Garza-like eyebrows. Get under his skin, throw off his game.

Pressure the guards and make it tough to deliver the ball into the post. Tell Myles to play straight up and give up a bucket if he has to. Don't double off Weiscamp and Fredrick. Win game

I think Myles should three quarter him so that Garza is forced to the middle where RU can give help. When Garza is up high, try to switch Ron or Yeboah on him. We'll probably throw in some zone as well.

2 of their losses occurred with Garza scoring season high points. 2 of their losses occurred while he scored season low points. I'd say we keep our defenders fresh, make him work but make the rest of the team beat us. Don't give up too many easy shots due to double teams. double team him on his blind side, when its available. Pressure the other guys to make shots difficult.

Make Toussant beat you from outside and have his man sag in the paint. I have not seen anything that remotely suggests he can shoot outside of a floater and a layup.

What about fronting Garza when he's inside 10 ft, pressure entry pass, and weakside defender comes for an immediate double if they try to lob it in?
