Two weeks ago, I filed an OPRA request through the Rutgers University Open Public Records Request Center website. Here is my request:
"Hello, in accordance with the New Jersey Open Public Records Act, please provide me contracts to which Rutgers is a party or beneficiary relating to the media rights agreements announced by the Big Ten Conference on August 18, 2022. Regards, [redacted] https://bigten.org/news/2022/8/18/g...-collegiate-sports-conference-in-history.aspx"
I checked the website this morning. The request was denied. Maybe if I worded the request differently, I would have been successful. This was the first time I filed an OPRA request. It took 15 minutes and was free, so I had a go at it.
The reason I filed the request is I want to read the B1G media deal contracts myself. I can't find these documents anywhere. Media reports on the deal do not give me confidence the reporters have seen the documents either. If anyone finds the media deal contracts, please consider posting them on TKR.
