Word is Diallo will be back very soon. Much needed height. Since he played 10 games, he cannot redshirt since the limit is 9 games.

Would certainly be good for him to log some minutes if the red shirt is burned. Not sure how much he can help but it was never going to be anything but a learning year for him anyway.

That would be nice.........but it'll take him several games minimally to get back into shape...but more importantly, why bother risking more damage to his foot when the balance of the games mean nothing.....

this is a good thing, he needs to get as much experience as possible, if he is medically cleared there should be no issue

This is definitely a good thing. The more minutes he has in a live game, the better he'll learn body control and reduce his number of fouls. Since the rest of this season is essentially meaningless, it'd be great minutes for him - and might reduce some of the strain on an injured Lewis.

He really burned a redshirt last year by sitting out as a non qualifier so there's no non-medical reason to not play him, I think. Please someone correct me if I am misinterpreting the rules here.

Greg Lewis will be the happiest guy on the team to see Diallo back in uniform

I don't think he returns this season as Eddie said at our Court Club meeting he could become a candidate for an extra year if he wins an appeal. If this became reality he could still have 4 years. Personally I didn't think he would qualify as he played 10 games this season. Where did nirrad hear the news that he might return? I would not mind getting an extra body but I have doubts.

Spoke to the young man myself then saw the confirmation in the paper.

Correct. Already has a non-medical RS year(last season). Tough to get a 6th year(a 2nd RS year for Diallo with only one of those due to injury) especially seeing as he played 10 games this season.

Getting a 6th year with a non-medical RS year isn't likely - how often has that even happened? The only time I've ever seen them is when there were two medical RS years taken.

Why would EJ hold him out a few games to chase really long odds down the line?

The young man is already 20 years old (at least). He's almost certainly not getting another year, and so if healthy he should get about the business of playing basketball.

worst thing of these foot/knee injuries is a wasted year of non-practice/developement/experience

Yes, he looked lost. But if he's healthy, he needs to come back and be lost - so he can continue working on figuring things out. Over his first 8 games, he was averaging 5 fouls for every 20 game minutes. Over his next two games, he managed 44 minutes with just 2 fouls... it really looked like he was starting to understand that he couldn't just maul people on their way to the basket.

He needs the last few games just as a laboratory... and it would be his first exposure to Big Ten play, which would help him understand the level of preparation he'll need in the offseason.

If he's healthy - and that's the most important thing - getting back on the court would be valuable.

No reason for Eddie to hold him out. At best Jordan is playing for next year which could be (should be ) one and done if not rapid improvement. So any little experience this year helps.

If he comes in and makes a difference.."see what we were missing"
If not then, " he just got back, what did you expect"
If he tweaks his foot he had all spring/summer to heal.

can't lose on this.
