Did you see our players coming out of that last time out when Eugene got hacked?

All 5 of them, if my memory serves me correctly, Geo, Corey, Mike, Eugene and DeShawn, all of them coming out of the huddle, onto the court, walking around with their arms raised, looking at the crowd. Basking in the love from all of us (well...not the people in blue).

At the time, I was thinking that our guys were saying, “ look what we are doing. We bought in to the coaching of this staff. We know we need to outwork and outsmart our opponent, and that’s what we do. That is Rutgers Basketball. And look at what happens when we play Rutgers Basketball. “

That is a memory I will never forget.

I was impressed with our guys energy and composure.
After that last time out I was thinking
"just one more bucket and one more stop" LOL

I think who you recruit off the court makes this rebuild even more than just a win...Freeman could have stopped working when the offense wasn't there....Mike could have caved in when he didn't knock down a couple of shots....instead he got offensive rebounds and a signature dribble drive right handed layup with another enormous defensive effort and rebounds....Candido leaned on Delgado and made him work...

What I believe happened was a transition of not just talent but a workmanlike effort funneled through the entire team and roster....Thiam who is still learning on the job, grabs rebounds....Eugene just grinds through the paint, sometimes making it up as he goes along....it's everyone.

RU fans are in sync with this program for the first time in well over a decade...Fans are learning about what makes a team as the players are.

The staff has identified more grinders...Shaq Carter....Ron Harper Jr....and while Montez Mathis is the headlining recruit for 2018, he is a larger and more known for his rebounding and tenacity, mixed with some ability to get buckets....

The last 24 hours leading up to the game and after have cemented a path on what RU basketball is evolving into.....the seniors buying in deserve a lot of credit for this breakthrough not just vs SHU but going back to last year...how we handle this success and grow from this will be choppy and bumpy but enjoying the ride...

This is a lot of fun being involved in this ride. Being my older age and my health I just hoped and prayed that I would one day see RU make the NCAA one more time before my time is up. It has been a long time for many of us longtime RU fans. I now think I will see this happen. It is just so much fun. Yesterday was a great day.
