Do you have a favorite big time football program ? Other than rooting for Rutgers of course. I love Rutgers, and we will be big time one day .
I always liked auburn . Was a big bo Jackson fan . I also liked the cam newton year . That was fun and whatever they were paying cam was greatly underpaid ! A NC and heisman is priceless .
I never got the love fest for notre dame .

Rutgers and Rutgers and also Rutgers.

I will root for Army when they play Navy.

Um... Stanford is always fun to watch since they are the answer to "what would have happen if the Ivy league stayed in big time football"

I will root for anyone playing Penn State.

I will root for all the Big Ten teams when they play in Bowl Games and the Playoffs... besides Penn State... unless they are playing a SEC school. Because I can't stand the whole SEC is better than the B1G y'all crap.

Teams that run a pro offense, Stanford and Alabama. The spread offense to me is ....,......,.... Well, let's just say it's not my idea of football.

Live in Florida. Have a son that went to UF, another at FSU. Enjoy following both teams when Rutgers is not on TV.

Being obsessed with Rutgers has made me hate literally every other team. In college, you can't have another team you root for. Every team that is good hurts us.

So I am stuck to getting my jollies by rooting against PSU, ND, and the typical bad-egg orgnizations, like UNC, Auburn, Tenn, etc. I root for any underdog against a powerhouse school . I also generally root against ranked teams, regardless of who it is.

Its kind of sad, really, because I am usually disappointed. All of those teams win far more than they lose. But such is the life of a Rutgers fan.

Rutgers and Stanford and Michigan and northwestern and vandy because those schools are top notch schools.

I root for these teams, RU is my favorite by far (with Army my 2nd favorite), the others I have always rooted for and I graduated from one of them after being a walk-on for a season.

RU
Army
Auburn
Northwestern
Georgia Tech
Oklahoma

And, whoever is playing these schools:
Pen St
Rotted Fruit
Conn U
BC
Temple
ND
Michigan
Bama

Ohio St - first college team I planned my Saturdays around.

USC a little bit

Yes, Rutgers.

Last I checked we play games against big time programs in one of the toughest conferences and divisions in the land.

Lol. Howard played 2 big ten teams this year too . So by that logic Howard is big time .
It's not who you play , it's how you play . We aren't there yet .

Get over yourself. We play 5 pre-season ranked top 25 teams this season. It's very much about who you play. Using the 1 FCS example is lame like your posts

You're the one saying a program is big time because of who they play and not how they play

Army (uncle class of '54 and my family had season tickets for 50 years) and Stanford (athletic/academic combination)

Whoever's playing Notre Dame
Whoever's playing Miami
Whoever's playing Penn State

I was a fan of Army and ND as a kid. Still pull for Army but ND is on the hate list these days. Wouldn't exactly say I'm a fan but 2 schools who I check out how they did are UCLA and Nebraska.

Rutgers first.

Then:
JMU (not big time, but it's the school I follow about as closely as RU)
Virginia (arguably not big time either)
Stanford
Michigan State
Service academies

Rutgers always. Rutgers is already big time, in my book, just not always successful in the big time.

As for others, who I root for depends most of all upon how the outcome of a game will affect RU's season. Secondly, if a team is fun to watch, like Oregon has been for the past several years, I will root for them, but not really caring all that much.

Like most here, I always root against ND, PSU, and BC, along with the entire ACC (holding a grudge there), Texas because it is such a bad influence on the sport, and a few schools I just don't consider to be very good academically and/or who have protected criminals from the law (FSU, Auburn, Oklahoma, etc.).

Since we've moved to the B1G, I've been rooting for Temple, USF, and Cincy to do well + will be pulling for all three of them this weekend against PSU, Syracuse, and Houston, respectively.

Temple. I love how they turn NJ kids and others from the mid atlantic that Rutgers misses and turns them into NFL players. 3 last year including Matt Ioannidis. Have you guys seen Isaiah Wright this year ? Wow

I root for Ohio State (wife's alma mater) except against us, of course and Alabama (older son's alma mater)
Do not like any college that wears orange. (cuse, tenn, princeton, auburn, etc)
Despise notre dame and michigan as well.

Nah. It's an extremely silly concept to my brain. I mean, I root against State Penn and their ilk always obviously. But genuinely liking another team? Pass.

I do admit I had a soft spot for a bombastic personality like the 'Ol Ball Coach when he was at USC.

Outside of Rutgers, I'll watch any team with a special player (USC - Reggie Bush, Auburn - Cam Newton immediately come to mind).

Next tier is whoever is playing ND or PSU.

Then I'll just watch whatever is on TV that has an interesting offense (Baylor, Mike Leach, Oregon, etc.)

Both my parents and my brother graduated from Texas. So I grew up loving college football in a family of Longhorns transplanted in NJ. After my freshmen year at UT (ironically Ricky Williams' freshman year as well), I transferred back to RU and have been bleeding scarlet ever since. (A big thanks to my wife for getting me back to Jersey where I belong)

So I still pull for the Longhorns as my legacy school (apologies to Southern Gentleman). I also root for anyone playing ND or PSU.

I may root for another team in a particular game, and there are definitely programs I root against. But Rutgers is the only school I really follow.

No. I'll root against teams I can't stand or if it somehow impacts Rutgers' standing and bowl chances. For example, I never root for Penn State or Notre Dame. Can't really stand Saban and Alabama. Yeah, Bama is great and all, but Saban is still an a-hole.

This is a bad question.

This IS the Rutgers board. WE are in the B1G.
Saying that we WILL be bigtime one day- obviously implies the opposite.

Good luck in spinning the elections coming up in Nov. too.

MO
PS RUTGERS....the only program I follow. There R no other programs of note or worthy of my allegiance, support / love.
