Do you think Darius Hamilton will play in the UW game?

I don't know what his health status is these days. The opener is only a little over two months away. Will Darius be ready? It will help the team's chances a lot (stating the obvious) with him on the field.

He hasn't played in a year? So if he's not ready now what's the injury and how long does it take to heal?

I was referring to his knee, not to any new injury. They never said what it was specifically I assumed that it was a bad injury. I am confident that he is all better and will play since you guys think so.

There's been more secrecy about his injury than the Manhattan Project

Rutgers can't say anything without Hamilton's permission. Maybe he didn't give it? The media for the most part has respected his privacy.

I don't think he'd be staying for a 5th year to stand along the sideline but you never know. He sure would make the defense better.

excited to see how our line looks this year. Im expecting it to be VERY solid. Also expecting a big jump from our DBs/LBs as they were painful to watch last year. Cant wait to see Hamilton in action

We are obviously keeping Washington guessing and having to game plan for different scenarios.

As long as he avoids any wayward blocking sleds he should be good to go.

If he can't play because of the same injury that kept him out last year, his NFL aspirations are in serious jeopardy.
I'm guessing he'll be ready to go.

Was it a specific injury that he suffered or did his knees just grow old while he was still.young?

I sure hope so. On Defense, one player does not make a team but his absence last year was a bigger issue because JPO played inside where he was a little overmatched against the best of the best. He should be way more productive and disruptive back at his natural DE position. Plus we had two other key players playing hurt all season and the rest of the DL was very young. Now we not only have strong veterans returning but the younger guys have all played so we do have depth which will help a lot. Much more than you can imagine in the BIG compared to 2006 when we barely subbed on the DL.

This strength up front will help the LB's. If they were painful for the above poster to watch think how painful it was for them to play behind a banged up DL against some of the best OL's in college Football. Two of the LB's are in NFL camps so I think they were not the issue.

Agree that DB's also struggled but that was for two very different reasons that have been covered many times. We played young guys and we played very soft because of them being young. Look for much more aggressive play from these kids. They are athletic. Let's see.

Hamilton will be 100% by Washington.

Turay is the one that will have trouble being ready for the Washington game.

The only thing I think that will be holding Hamilton back is how quickly he gets back up to game speed in live situations, and how prone he might be to reinjury. I don't think that the injury itself is a concern at this point - it's just shaking off a year's worth of rust and stability going forward.

That he didn't look good in spring practice.
So you heard from people at Spring practice he is a shell of himself?
Spring practice ended with the Spring Game. Right before the Spring Game, Darius had this to say in the link I posted above:

"I feel better than I ever have since the injury," Hamilton said. "I'm out here playing team (periods) a lot, I'm tackling. I think I'm almost there. It's still a process, there's still a ways to go. Thank God I've got time. I'm just really blessed and fortunate to be back out here playing this game again with the guys I love."

"The most important thing for Darius is to be healthy next fall, so we're trying to manage his reps this spring," defensive line coach Shane Burnham said. "We want him to get quality work versus the offense so he can knock the rust off of his game. At the same time, we know we don't play for several months so it's just being smart, not being too aggressive."

-----------
Your post is based on unsupported speculation. By his own words, Darius was not fully there by the end of Spring practice, and there was a ways to go. His coach indicated that they were managing his reps and they were not being too aggressive.
