Does anyone else think that Stripe the Birthplace vs. Michigan is a terrible idea?

Rutgers should try and do it every game so fans don't need to think.

Of the 35-40k season tickets I am guessing maybe 75% are aware of the stripe out. Of the other tickets, mostly 2ndary market many won't be aware. Anyone who is a Michigan fan will wear blue / maize on purpose to screw up the stripe out.

As mentioned, it works better against teams with smaller visiting fan bases.

I'm not worried about a UM takeover like some seem to fear, as we've disproved that every B1G home game we've had. They'll have a few thousand. I don't like the stripeout out because I prefer a blackout for 1 game & my kids aren't happy we have to wear red this game instead of black.

No it wouldn't. It was Iowa.
Rutgers is in the NY market. They love big events. Iowa was not a big event.
Also please explain why the Giants and Jets can fill MetLife for 1pm games but Rutgers is only good at 8pm.
Or name a night game at Rutgers against a crappy team that packed the house

Disagree. Almost zero questions there's another 4-5K if Iowa was an 8PM start. That was the 3rd straight home game and 3rd straight Saturday that we played at noon. Absolute killer IMHO.

I have seen the attendence. Howard, NewMexico, Iowa. Those are powerhouse teams??
2004 Michigan State game at RU. 3:30. Packed house.

Might I add in 2004 up to that point Rutgers was worse off then we are now, and there was little buzz surrounding the program with the tearing apart of the Old Big East, and the fanbase that followed Rutgers was likely half of what is currently is in numbers.

People come to see bigtime names. Iowa is not really a big time name in this area of the country compared to blue bloods like OSU, Michigan, MSU, and Penn State.

If this fails it's on the fans. RU has done a good job promoting this.

I agree 100%. You are living in a bubble if you don't know what color to wear. Even the single game tickets when purchased have the color to wear provided.
No less than 100 communications have been sent out about it over the past 6 months. It is absolutely on the fans if they they don't wear the right color.

these games always give the players a little extra motivation and the crowd feeds off it. It's something new and the student section will be loud and packed.

Yes, bad idea. First, I don't expect most fans to hear about it in advance. Second, if there are empty seats as there have been all year, it will look even worse. Why can't we just go back to "WEAR RED TO THE GAME?"

This. I'm against gimmicks like this that task fans (particularly casual fans) with more than simply coming out to the game which, given attendance numbers, is a challenge in and of itself. If I'm a casual fan, I have enough to worry about like where I'm going to park and how much, what I can and cannot bring into the stadium, etc, etc. Now I have to worry about what color shirt I'm wearing if I'm in an odd seat versus even. Please. KISS

Huh? I said crappy teams. USF was ranked most of those years. And were #2 in 2007 when Rutgers won.
just cause you're ranked top 5 doesn't mean you're not a crappy team lol. You do realize the rankings system is entirely based on who can stay undefeated the longest lol. Sure some matchups may affect the rankings but it's just stay undefeated longer than the next guy. USF was garbage those years and its been garbage basically it's entire existence. They only got ranked so high cause after 4-5 weeks they were only one of a few teams unbeaten.

Oh I agree that werent as good as the media loved them but they were ranked #2 when Rutgers beat them. The excitement for that game was because of that not because it was a night game. Rutgers and its fan took great pride beating a #2 a year after beating #3 Louisville.
