Just wondering if we try to push tempo going forward, based on the way our offense played today.
I understand this sentiment and I love D and rebounding much as the next guy. But the downside is that we have to grind out each win and when we lose it’s excruciating to watch.Rather have D and rebounding.
Sums it up... thanks for the side-to-sideIncredibly, both teams took the same number of shots, 73, and the same number of threes, 23.
RU made one more 2-pointer than IL and IL made one more 3-pointer than RU.
IL scored 6 more points at the foul line. Game.

Magoo, maybe not to the same degree as we ran today, but I gotta believe Pike and coaches have to seriously consider pushing tempo a bit against future opponents. Just think, we gave IL a better game than Minny, MD and MSU did, so this style of play seems to suit us (moreso now than earlier in the year) especially with the emergence of Mathis, Harper and McConnell.Illinois overplays and forces tempo. We can’t expedt our offense to look like this against most other teams.
It’s worse than that. We scored 94 points, but lost, giving up 35 points to a Georgian true freshman who played at St. Patrick’s in NJ, ranked the number 370 player in his class who we did not offer. He may even have been miffed at the lack of a Rutgers offer, as he went out of his way to rub it in as the game went on. Can’t make it up.We finally had our game where OUR guys shot out of their mind, and the other team scored a hundred. It’s just not fair
Agree with you 100%. But key word is WIN. Ugly win > entertaining loss.I understand this sentiment and I love D and rebounding much as the next guy. But the downside is that we have to grind out each win and when we lose it’s excruciating to watch.
Let’s face it, sports is entertainment, and if we can win in a more exciting fashion than why not give it a try?
Harper before Geo.Do we move Baker to the bench so that Mathis and McConnell can start?
Mentioned in another thread, if Harper hits one or two of his 3s (he was 0-7) we likely win.One can argue we lost the game because KIssa gave us 1 minute and we weren’t as fresh as we needed to be down the stretch.
On the flip side if they are going to play only 1 minutes because the 4 guards are separating themselves From them it is a good rhing
He didn’t force it. Most of them were good looks. His issue is on D.Mentioned in another thread, if Harper hits one or two of his 3s (he was 0-7) we likely win.
That’s what I’m saying. He got good looks and took the shots, which is great. But he needs to make a couple (out of seven) and if he did, we likely win.He didn’t force it. Most of them were good looks. His issue is on D.
This game was an anamoly. We won’t play a team like that again.
Iowa is going to push the pace on us too.
