Why cause we won one home game against a flailing team? It’s still a miracle mountain to climb to even sniff the bubble. Pike made changes last night, keep it going to see what we got. Plus you have to be thinking about next year and keeping the kid.Weird timing
This is not the argument…I trust that the coach knows whether or not someone is ready. And at this point, it's best for the kid to preserve 4 years of eligibility.
I would not assume the player we saw last night was the same player at start of the season. This is not the argument…
1. Pike sat on Grant for half the season despite him clearly having some skills this team desperately needs
Very different style players is my understanding:Can’t say I’m not curious. It seemed to most of us that Dortch and Grant were carbon copies…if so I’d like to see it
Redshirting a kid these days is a risk. You may never reap the benefits of the kid gaining size, strength, and maturity. Another team may swoop in and offer the kid NIL to play for them.TRed shirt is probably best for him, and team.
best for him and whatever team he may transfer to, could be but not necessarily best for ru.I trust that the coach knows whether or not someone is ready. And at this point, it's best for the kid to preserve 4 years of eligibility.
If you read the post carefully, I said it's in the kid's best interest. I agree it's not in the team's best interest if he can help you win now. But I trust the coach to make that determination.2. Preserving anyone for 4 years is a waste given the transfer environment.
Everything is a risk. You play him this year and he flashes a bit, another team may be more likely to try to poach him.Redshirting a kid these days is a risk. Well.. I have to "go there"... in this day and age of easy transfers.. is redshirt ever in the program's favor? Only if a player is a physical specimen who is not ready.Red shirt is probably best for him, and team.
If you were him would you risk $100K??????? (wild stab of year 5 NIL) to roll the dice.

And…..
I've made this comment a few times. That's a rough transition but all the more reason to get him more minutes against the worst teams OOCAaron Breitman made a great observation about Dylan Grant. People need to remember Grant did not play HS Basketball last year.
I can still think Dortch could be a better bench or rotational option than what we used to barely beat a flailing ucla team. The fact that the team did better than what I predicted they would doesn’t change that.By doing so, you've moved the goal posts in order to support your nonsense recommendation (throwing in Dorch for the hell of it)....as it makes no sense without any indication of how he plays or how ready he might be.
To paraphrase your prediction......
Prior to the game.....Rutgers sucks and will get killed by UCLA
After the game......Rutgers sucks and the win doesn't matter because UCLA sucks.
Bottom line is that the win does matter. Dylan played more meaningful minutes since his bout with illness, and the team showed life.
I believe he was I went to the open team scrimmage and he played good in that hit a couple of threes and overall played well thats why I was surprised that he was not playing at allI would not assume the player we saw last night was the same player at start of the season.
Just because he's ready to contribute now, doesn't mean he was ready to contribute at season's start.
