From 287 South

Does one take River Road past HPSS all the way to Rt 18 North ? Or can one get to Yellow via Hoes Lane West ? Or exit River Road even earlier at Centennial to Rt 18 South ?

Just wondering the quickest route from 287 South & Bridgewater area.

I would do what you said. Pass the stadium on River road, go North on 18. I'm not sure if you can come in the other way, but by coming in off 18, you avoid Blue Lot congestion coming from the other direction.

Depending on your timing (and your direction on 287) I would avoid River Road if you can.

as stated...taking 287 south to the area....say about 2.5 to 3 hours before the game

True - if coming from the south on 287, it makes more sense to take an earlier exit (like Stelton Road or the next road North) and then take Metlars Road, where you then hang a right (don't recall the name of the road, Google Map it) which takes you to 18 South. This approach is how I always go and it's incredibly easy and never has any kind of heavy traffic.

Edit: depending on how late one is, I'd even do the above coming from the North on 287. Just go past the River road exit, then backtrack as above.

Just looked at a map. Coming from the North, take exit 8, turn left onto Centennial, turn right onto 18 south to the stadium exit. At any hour, probably faster than River road if going to the Yellow lot.

I like your Centennial Road option the best.

But if your closer to 3 than the 2.5 maybe River Road idea works too...if you do the Hoes Lane thing. I just don't like driving past the Stadium to go back. Too many things could happen as you get closer.

That's what I do too. Very easy. I believe the right is on Centennial Ave. Takes you to Hoes Lane (Rt18) right above Piscataway HS?

you must enter the yellow lot from the Campus Road exit off Rt 18. To me its much better to take Centennial Ave exit from 287 south than River Road which makes you go past the stadium to get to the highway

Lou...others say to take River Road to centennial rather than all the way to 18 N

Probably the best option, depending on traffic you can also go straight onto Knightsbridge off of exit 8, it will lead you to 18 as well.

Not sure why you would do that. I assume that you can drive faster on 287 than on Centennial for the distance between River Road and Knightsbridge.
I have been parking in the yellow lot since 1994 and it never occurred to me to get off at River Road. Its only 1 more exit on 287 to Centennial and its by far the most direct route.

OK Lou will give that a try....how about getting out after the game....I think the only exit is to 18 north or south

Is that route from 287 to Centennial to Hoes (18) good on gameday with regard to traffic? Just curious. If not, people coming from the Shore or from NE NJ could easily get off on 27S and take that to Plainfield Ave in Edison and then take that to Ethel to Suttons to Metlars to 18 and the yellow lot. It's never a traffic issue any time before the game (although there are lights, so it's not "fast"), so if going the extra 5-6 miles to Centennial drops you into a lot of traffic on Hoes/18, try exit 2 for 27S.

No doubt. Entering via Centennial Ave is FAR better than River Rd. for the Yellow lot. I come from the North on 287 on game days and pretty much zip in and zip out of the Yellow lot at virtually all hours.

I've never had an issue. Is there a little back up at the lights? Yes, but nothing to be concerned with. The biggest issue is the short green light at one of the intersections (Old Hoes Ln?) can back things up a little. It sure seems like I get from 287 to Campus Drive faster than it takes from there into the Black/Purple.

Been coming to this lot longer then Lou

Take Washington Avenue exit off 287 to Mettlars lane to 18 to Campus Roda

Don't listen Lou
I get off on River Road and follow that to Hies Lane

I get off on River Road and take that to Hoes Lane. Take Hoes Lane up to the RU golf course and turn right. Go past the blue lot, half way around the circle and enter the yellow lot. I usually get there about an hour and a half before kickoff and seldom have an issue on River Road.

The OP is heading south on 287 not north like you do.

Centennial Ave is quicker.

And what's this nonsense about coming to the yellow lo,t longer than I have. Season tickets were bought at same time and in fact I placed the order for yours.

He's coming from the North. Best route is almost certainly Centennial exit which is two quick turns from Route 18. Then it's a straight (well, curved, actually) shot to the stadium all on Route 18. Simple, direct, very few traffic lights. Avoids Blue Lot traffic and stadium congestion traffic.

There can be no better way (unless within 90 minutes of the game, then I'd say use the Washington Ave exit to Metlars to avoid any congestion at the Centennial exit). But the OP is coming more than 90 minutes prior. So yeah, Centennial is the correct answer.

:chairshot:Please don't be that Guy who stops in the middle of the road to ask the Cop directions to the Parking lot.
It happens every home game.
