Please not laviano for another year .Originally thought it'd be Laviano, but if Allen and Laviano are very close in the passing department as DiNardo said, I'd have to assume Allen gets the job based off his athleticism.

It's amazing to me how Allen could be tied with Chris so fast and passed Rettig. I think a lot of us who killed Flood last season, and with good reason on a lot of levels, need to admit he was right on the QB depth chart last year. Sure maybe Hayden would be further along if he got 1st team reps, and I had high hopes for him, but something just hasn't clicked for this kid,at least not yet.
People really need to go back and look at the full replays of the games and do an objective analysis of Rettig’s play. I think people bailed out on a lot of the blow outs and missed much of when Rettig played. The ONE time Retig got meaningful minutes with the starters against a BIG ten starting Defense… he did nothing. 3rd Quarter against Wisconsin. Multiple consecutive 3 and outs. Missing open receivers and looking like a deer in the headlights. Then when the scrub D came in, he hit a few long passes. And I still cannot get out of my mind the play (against Nebraska I think it was ) where he was moving away from pressure and basically tripped and fell over his own feet with not a defender around him. That really did not inspire much confidence. Yes he threw a few good long passes in garbage time…. but his few shots against the starting Defenses clearly did not warrant more playing time.
And what has been said ad naseum….. Much of the “Bad Play” from the QB as analyzed by the expert RU fans…. Is not so clearly due to only the play of the QB. Laviano and the Rutgers O had a terrible showing against Wisconsin,,,, yes, that is clear... but One of the recognized best QB’s in the Big Ten ( CJ Beathard from Iowa) had a very similar statistical day against that same D. 9 -21 for 77 yards. Beathards goes on to be Lauded as one of the top QB’s in the country. The RU fans just say that Laviano sucks, disregarding the quality of the Defense, and the poor play of the rest of the RU offense. Funny these RU fans they are.
What Numbers said. Very few people are saying that they are certain Rettig would have been outstanding. We are saying that Flood deprived us of finding out in game settings due to his extreme stubbornnessYou simply need to stop posting about football. Laviano was simply horrible in several games and it was not all due to everyone else around him. Yes, he didn't get a huge amount of help, but he also missed open receivers and made numerous bad decisions. He needed to sit and Flood needed to give Rettig a try.
Rettig played a bit better than Laviano in the NSU game and at least deserved a shot given how poorly Laviano played. He may have played just as badly, but maybe he might've played better - unfortunately we'll never know. And it's simply ridiculous to cite Rettig's performance coming in cold against Wisconsin. Big difference between coming in cold with limited preparation when we're getting hammered vs. being given starter's reps all week and being given a chance to play from the start.

How do you honestly complain about anyone who didn't have faith in the previous staff? So much confidence that Rettig ( who might just wind up as the current staff’s 4th string QB after the performance of Rescigno today) deserved more time last season. Despite the keyboard commandoes who feel they know more about what should have been done last season than the paid professionals , I’ll take comfort knowing that one of our potential starters gained as much experience possible last season at the expense of a guy who may eventually be buried on the depth chart after this August camp. But go ahead and keep basing your assessments on his performances against that NSU team and the garbage time performances in the BIG games. Its very relevant in determining who the starter should be.
