Edsall coming back to UCONN?

A big knock against Edsall at Maryland and UConn was his tendency to throw players under the bus. When the team won it was because of the superior game plan he came up with. When the team lost it was because the players failed to execute the superior game plan he came up with.

Is this true? Not saying it isn't but is there any reports to back this claim up?

Didn't Houston, Temple, Cinn and USF lose their HC? That along with help Edsall tremendously. He should win the conference.

Might be fun to read the Boneyard today.
Quote from their idiot sycophant mod pudgie: "This conference has great football ... and it pays really damn well. "

Delusional AND stupid. It isn't possible to lol enough.

I had said: "As for UConn hiring Edsall, they would have to eat a lot of pride showing just how desperate they are to get someone to take the job if they go after Randy the way he left them."
Looks like they ate their pride and were desperate enough to ask him back.
He's a good fit but he did poo poo on them the last time he was UConn's HC when he decided to leave for another job..
Winning is more important that telling an ex HC we don't want you back because of the way you disrespected us on your way out of town and Connecticut proved that by bringing Randy back

Years later Rutgers would pretty much undertake the same action to join the B1G. Nothing personal, just business.
No problem with this because as @rutgersal says, it was just business.

But I did have a problem with this...

Because I do remember him saying and doing this kind of stuff at UConn and Maryland.

Not cool. When you can it's best to praise in public punish in private.

UCONN and UMASS will be bck in 1AA again in football.

UCONN indy for 1aa football, to the Big East for the rest.

UMASS indy for 1aa football. A10 where they are for the other sports

Maybe UConn is his dream school? Or was that UMd?..lol..he's an average HC with a lousy temperament

And put the final nail in the Big East coffin when they got blown away 48 - 20 in front of about 1500 Ucon fans after backing in to a conference championship with an 8 - 4 record. After that game Randy Edsall didn't even accompany the team back to Storz choosing instead to fly to Maryland LOL.
I don't give a flying f*** about HCRE. But he DID do something that Schiano and that idiot Flood never did and went to a BCS/NY6 bowl game. And he did it with New England being a recruiting wasteland compared to NJ.

But all in all, he was lucky that Flood was the one in the driver's seat to an all but guaranteed conference championship that season before having a one car crash.

Yes, Rockin' Randy won the Big East at 8 - 4 and went to the Fiesta Bowl. That's as impressive as Elmer Flood beating the Michigan Fightin' Hokes.

I think what guaranteed that in 2012 was the poor execution of pretty good game plan against Louisville.

But in 2010 which is when UConn went to the Fiesta Greg was the coach. We can blame the LeGrand injury on some of it but overall not a good season.

Back when Maryland was selling out home games and was loud. This is Edsall at his finest.

1:16 minute mark Cam Chism intercepts a ball for a TD, and instead of celebrating Edsall chews him out on national TV.

Guy just does not belong coaching a big time program, which is why he belongs at UConn, Division 3 school, or a service academy (although they are better now).

Notice crowd and how Maryland was before Randy arrived, what you saw last few years was a result of him KILLING our fan base. Durkin is trying to fix that. I'm sure you can empathize.

I thought the reason they got rid of Ralph Friedgen was that he played such an uninspiring brand of offense that he was driving the crowds away?

Maryland rebounded in 2010 to finish with a 9–4 record, including a win in the Military Bowl, and ranked 23rd in the AP Poll. The ACC named Friedgen Coach of the Year, while freshman quarterback Danny O'Brien became the first Terrapin ever named ACC Rookie of the Year. Citing lack of fan support, the athletic department bought out the final year of Friedgen's contract for $2 million.

the Boneyard board is an interesting read. They seem to be welcoming back with open arms and have some very high expectations for their program. I am not sure how they are seeing it but they feel the AAC is basically the same as the BE and Edsell will pick up where he left off...of course they totally ignore that they are in a lesser league with no access to the playoffs really and that will kill recruiting.

That was the thought. The first few games Randy had great crowds, after than it got even worse than Ralph had in his final years.

Ralph had a great mind for football, he was a decent recruiter, but left WAY too many good kids get away from DMV. Ralph suffered from winning 30 games in three year and the BCS bowl and just not having the charisma to get more fans in stadium. His wife did a lot of work building grassroots booster club, but people had crazy expectations given that Debby Yow our admin was wasting money on non-revenue and women's sports and not investing back in football/basketball, hence we could not keep up with the rest of the ACC in the football arms race. Where everyone was spending more, WE actually spent less thanks to our idiot AD that makes Herman look like a genius. I mean we spent LESS than everyone in the ACC including Duke and Wake Forrest.

So the fans trailed off, then Randy came in and KILLED, I am not joking, killed the football booster club so he only had to deal with the 25k and up donors.

Guy was and is a train wreck. So when I hear he only has one huge donor at Uconn that likes him, I believe that.
