Pleased to "announce" that EC has been selected as a Loyal Son of Rutgers for 2017. As an inductee myself in 2014 (thanks Coach Lloyd!), it's a very cool thing!

Eric played from 94-98, and was a part of that magical BE Tourney run to the semis @ MSG at the end of his career. JK and I have had the privilege to see Eric on the road many times when we play in the Chicagoland area, and recently grabbed some lunch with him and his lovely daughter prior to the NW game last weekend. Some of you may remember this cover shot...

Eric Clark LC’98

Eric Clark, an Illinois native, has been the President of the Rutgers Club of Chicago for more than twelve years. A member of the Rutgers Men’s Basketball team during his years on the banks, he was inspired to take on the task of revitalizing the Rutgers Club of Chicago upon his return to his home state. The position included the challenge of reaching out to the 2,500 plus alumni living in and around the windy city. Eric became and continues to be the Rutgers “go to” guy for any Big Ten event in Chicago, and was named the B1G10K Rutgers Representative in 2014. In 2006, Eric received the William of Orange Award for Dedicated Volunteerism.

It doesn't get much more "Rutgers" than Eric Clark...CONGRATS MY MAN!

Eric worked has a$$ off. One of my all time favorites. Great to see he is being recognized. LC-98!!!!

I remember the heart Eric always showed while playing. Especially his senior season when he carried the team on his back at times and seemed to will the team to victory. I'm glad to see him get the honor.

This is awesome. Eric was always a favorite and it's great he has remained so connected to RU.

Billy Gilligan on the cover, too, hahaha. Awesome. I still remember Nova coming into the RAC and EC blocked a Kerry Kittles shot and sent it almost to the handicapped section!

Sometime in the future loyal season ticket holders ,ie,at least 15 consecutive seasons should be recognized with a pregame /half time reception in the rear of the RAC.Such a group is a dwindling lot and needs some kind of positive recognition.

Congratulations Eric! The man played with heart![/QUOTE]
Excellent post BK. When we went into the Big East in 1995 , Eric went up against guys bigger and stronger but he just got better and better , leaving having his best year his senior year, similar to Adrian Hill having his best year senior year and Rashod Kent. Happy for Eric and hopeful that our seniors next year will have saved their best seasons for their senior year.

Great memories of playing at the barn against those guys in pick up ball!! Gilligan wasn't around long but man that kid could shoot from deep. Great range I remember!

Some very very competitive games went on at the barn for pick when I was there in early 90's. Not sure if they have that now still.

Sonny Werblin pales in comparison with the pick up hoops scene. Occasionally the 'A' court had some good games when non-students snuck in the back door. Lol.

Eric worked the entire summer btw his junior and senior year on a jump shot and amazed the fan base his senior year with the new wrinkle in his offense

Well deserved!

His senior year was my freshman year and it was the first year following the team. I remember thinking how impressed I was with Eric's play and a couple of long time fans said that that was not the same Eric Clark that they saw in past years.

IIRC, in the quarterfinal game of the BET, he went to the line with the game on the line late and came through with two clutch free throws. I forget the exact sequence, but I seem to remember hearing a story how he asked who should be fouled if he misses and Bannon said not to worry about that because he was making both shots.

Eric Clark is one of my favorite all-time Rutgers hoops players. He and Damon Santiago were two players who peaked as seniors -- just the way you hope it happens with every player. Congratulations to Eric.

Always wondered if he hasn't got two fouls in the first half quick against Uconn in the BE semis ...we cut it to 3 points late first half and the sellout crowd was turning pro Ray and then gave up a couple of quick put backs and an inside hoops that we really needed him in there for to make it 9 at half on the way to a 65-52 loss

Loyal son for sure !

Semi's were against Ron Artest led St Johns

I remember making a sign and it got on TV:

Eric Clark
Stay
Please
Next Year

Semi's were against Ron Artest led St Johns

Incorrect.

We played UConn in the 98 Semis after beating Gtown at the buzzer on Billet's runner at the buzzer

St John's played Syracuse in the other semifinal later that night

In 99....we played in the Quarterfinal against Ron Artest (top 15 St Johns team) and without Kent...actually led in the second half 43-40 before our lack of bigs caught up to us. We were on the bubble and went NIT as a result
