Every RU defensive play vs OSU

The D was moving well in the first Q. Turay missed a sack on the first TD. In the 2nd Q they became a step slow. Don't bother watching the 2nd half.

The d was on the field for most of the 2nd Q. OSU had long drives and RU had 3 and outs. If the O can hold the ball longer, pick up some first downs, change field position and let the D rest the D would actually look ok.

Didn't help that we stuck with the uptempo offense instead of slowing it down to give the defense some extra rest

We are now hurting at LB.. and our DL is not getting pressure. I think we need to blitz to get pressure but we are not doing enough of that.. and the blitzers do not seem to have the knack for it... probably because we are thin at LB.

LB youth/skill level is really really hurting us. Only 1 of the 3 should be playing IMO. As they (hopefully) improve our D will get better. We looked like we were running 3/4 speed compared to OSU.

I cannot help but think of GS's early years. routinely you saw the LBs in "no mans land".. seemingly frozen between wondering if they should be rushing the QB, moving up to fill a hole for a runner or dropping into coverage. It was ugly... and the whole back 7 would take bad lines to the ball.

But that was what made 2006 so special. No one.. I mean NO ONE.. thought we could lose the senior talent on D we had in 2005 and improve on defense in 2006. Everyone predicted a drop-off on D. But we got the exact opposite. Everyone moved and moved fast on every snap. They gang tackled.. they dictated what the offense was allowed to try to do. It was a thing of beauty and won us the first 5 games without any real help from the offense.

Perhaps that is in our future with so many young players getting real time on D.

Really think we need to blitz LB more against Mich think Mich St. last year we were getting pressure on Cook.
