Has anyone heard if RU is hosting any fallball games this year? I saw they are running a clinic out in St. Louis but hope there is at least one round robin at home or they open up one of the scrimmages like last year.

No home scrimmages this year. One in St. Louis and one in Canada

Cali, are there any top recruits we are going after who live in those areas?

I wonder if they are playing up at the Hill school. that is where most field players play you also see a lot of Canadians playing at Culver in Indiana and at IMG in Florida.

The St Louis scrimmage is vs Georgetown

I believe the Toronto scrimmage is a round robin with Umass (for sure) and I think Hobart (not 100%)

Anyway, that's the deal

Not sure where it's at...I'll be there

I haven't asked, but anyone hearing anything about the schedule?
It's not available for public consumption from what I understand...and that means nobody knows...except the guy that knows...if you follow ;)

Trust me, I've asked my contact and he is not privileged to that info...I'd love to know

I already have the entire schedule for my other team of interest

Lots of teams release schedules immediately and lots hide them until late...

You know he tends to keep his schedule under wraps as best as he can and they are practicing more in the morning which makes it harder for me to get there during the week

You are correct...zero data on the schedule, even in the lockeroom...only way to sniff it out is to go look at some other teams that have released schedules and you might be able to see where we land, etc....

Ok so looking at the schedule from last year it looks like the Lehigh and Cuse series should be done while we have away game for Hofstra Loyola, and Lafayette. We will always play Army, Princeton and St. John’s and we have had a long running series with Fairfield that could end any year. So what it looks like it is we have to replace two teams maybe three while we will likely play Hofstra, Lafayette, Army and St.Johns Loyola and Princeton out of Conference. They will also play JHU, OSU and PSU at Home this season.

Just curious: What is the benefit of not releasing the schedule once it is completed?

It may simply not be completed yet. Some of the issues are times and TV schedules. It could also be that one of the schools we were supposed to play backed out and we are looking for a replacement. Every teams schedule is not
Locked in at the same time and I know that Coach Brecht is always looking for the best games possible.

OK that makes sense. I guess I was under the impression since many schools have released that most were done at this point. Schedules are released in other sports with times as TBA. I wonder if other conference members have released? If not then maybe still unsettled across the board.

Cali or others, how long do you think it will be until all Power Five schools have lacrosse? 5 years? 10 years? One of my nephews goes to Florida which has it for girls but not the guys.

That's because they use the woman's lax scholarships to meet Title IX requirements. I can see more schools adding men's lax but never 100%. My guess for the next programs would be Northwestern because they have the money to do it and an already strong woman's program and, now that Utah has joined the club, Stanford.

A friend of mine works at Stanford and he told me straight up that Stanford will likely never add it because they way they would want to add it would cost too much. ( The number he told me was 50-60 Million all in)

That's a shame because, although I realize it's a different level, they've a solid men's club team for at least 50 years.

USC I bet would add mens lax and would clean up when that happens. If I'm in the Northeast, and get a chance to play in Los Angeles, I'd take it in a second.
One of my former students played women’s lacrosse at USC and loved it. Imagine if USC, ULCA, Texas, ASU, Arizona started Men’s Lacrosse. It would be a game changer.

Would get expensive for family and friends to make it to the games. Lacrosse has 12.6 athletic scholarships per team, though you have to think that teams with sustained success find ways to get (academic scholarship, internships, summer jobs, meals, housing, benefits) money to players and their families, one way or another.

I don’t see that happening in our lifetime. Others will add it. In The B1G, I look at MSU, Minnesota, and Northwestern as schools who might make that happen.

MSU used to have it but cancelled it in I think 95 due to title 9

I know many MSU Alumni and fans would love to have lacrosse back...but cost is an issue like it is most places...we will see

NW should have it...they have a great women's program...

Indiana is another place I'd like to see it...great campus, great town and really nice alumni base...fantastic school and business school...

It's a slow burn...I wish we could see and hear about 2-3 new schools a year...but it's just not happening...

Not sure when the official schedule is going to be released but it's great. Very similar to last year with one change, I believe.
