Daryl Stephenson on his impending arrival at Rutgers:

“I'm looking forward to just go up there and show them what I can do at the defensive tackle position. I don't know what my chances of playing as a true freshman, but I'd like too.”

Carlton Agudosi on whether not he will play hoops next season:

“I’m going to talk to the Rutgers coaches about that. I would like to play basketball but we’ll see what happens.”

Elijah Carter on having to wait until November to make his college debut:

“It’s tough to wait, but I know I have to get stronger and stuff like that to get ready for the Big East.”

No commitments will come this weekend

RU will get a commitment during its summer camp

Recruiting tidbits

Ryan Brodie (Long Branch)

With his his offer list moving up into the teens, Brodie only plans to hit one camp in the near future and that will be at Rutgers. As far as when Brodie will narrow his list, that doesn’t appear to be on the immediate horizon.

“I didn’t decide anything yet,” said Brodie. “Just basically when I take my visits and narrow it down.”

Brandon Napoleon (St. Peter’s Prep)

Napoleon’s June schedule also remains rather light although he has circled the 7-on-7 Schiano shootout as an important date as he will try to lead his Prep team to a tournament victory for the third straight year.

“We're going to try our best, everybody is going to do their thing and hopefully we come away with another win,” said Napoleon.

Adam DePietro (Lancaster Catholic, PA)

Rutgers has a very good chance of making the final cut for the offensive lineman who is now up to 10 offers. Starting Saturday, he will start visiting some Midwest schools which will include stops at Northwestern, Michigan State, Illinois and Wisconsin.

“I’m looking to narrow down my list around the last week in June and hopefully make and early July decision,” Depietro said on Thursday night.

Steve Longa
(Saddle Brook)

With his commitment out of the way, the summer has suddenly gotten a lot less hectic for the fifth commit of RU’s 2012 class. However, he may still make an appearance at the Rutgers Camp in late June.

“I might just stop by and say hello, that’s it,” said Longa.

The rest of Longa’s summer schedule remains rather light.

“I’m going down to Dallas for a national competition July 1-3 with team NJ and maybe something else,” he said.

Matt Barnett (Paul VI)

Holding a lone offer from Monmouth, Barnett is coming off an impressive performance at another Big East school’s camp last week.

"I did the UConn camp last weekend. They really like me, the running backs coach said I was the best fullback he worked with,” said Barnett. “Coach Pasqualoni said they’re going to meet as a staff and evaluate then let me know if there is an offer coming from them”.

With the transition back to the Pro-Style Offense, Rutgers could possibly bring in a fullback in the class of 2012.

“I’m pretty pumped about the Rutgers camp. I’ve got to go up there and show them what I have to offer then hopefully they will offer."

Barnett will also camp this summer at Temple, Navy and Boston College

Jalen Randolph (Ridley, PA)

Recruited as an athlete, Randolph has gone under the recruiting radar thus far, but he has seen his fair share of attention this spring.

“I have offers from West Virginia, Stony Brook, Buffalo and Duke so far,” said Randolph.

The 6-foot-1, 210 pound Randolph rushed for over 900 yards and 14 touchdowns last season as he led his Green Raiders to a 10-2 record last fall.

Although he has been most successful at running back, he is being recruited by Rutgers on the other side of the ball.

“I’m pretty sure they like me at linebacker,” Randolph said about Rutgers. “I have talked to Coach Angelichio a few times."

Randolph is already planning to camp at both Villanova and Maryland with the possibly of making up to New Jersey this summer.

“I think I might (camp at Rutgers). It is close so it is easy to get to. If I don't come to Rutgers for camp, I'm pretty sure I'm at least going to go for a day and visit."

Xavier Griffin
(Newark, DE)

Recruiting is starting to really pick up for Griffin as the summer approaches. NC State has just offered him a scholarship, emerging as a favorite in his recruitment. Griffin will camp at Rutgers, along with Maryland and Penn State in an effort to earn more offers but with Rutgers having limited slots and two commitments at wide receiver, it is unlikely he will receive an offer out of camp.

Xavier Jones (Burlington)

Jones was offered a preferred walk-on position at Rutgers after signing with Gattaca junior college program. However, he will be attending neither of those aforementioned programs as he accepted a full scholarship to Delaware State yesterday.

Camp offer updates

Immaculata defensive back Shayne Jones received his second D1 offer yesterday from Buffalo. He will be attending Rutgers camp later this month.

Vero Beach defensive end Dwayne Hoilett will also camp at Rutgers and just claimed his 20th offer yesterday from Kentucky.

Defensive back Jahmahl Pardner of Aquinas High School in Rochester, N.Y. is up to six offers now with Temple and Akron being two of the latest to offer. As of now, he plans to camp at both Rutgers and Syracuse.

Elijah St. Hilaire of Palisades Park picked up his fifth offer yesterday when Akron became the second FBS school to offer the wide receiver, who is likely to make a stop at the RU camp.

The Big Men

Here are the list of names of the offensive and defensive linemen identified by Scarletnation.com as players expected to attend Rutgers’ next camp. The list is filled with a number of under-the-radar big man prospects.

Austin Johnson DT (St. Augustine Prep)

Johnson (6-foot-4, 280 lbs) has an offer from Villanova. A four-year varsity player, Johnson will also camp at Penn State, Boston College and Pittsburgh.

Omaine Stephens
DE (East Orange)

Stephens has an offer from James Madison as a linebacker which is where he will line up this season for the Jaguars. However, Stephens (6-foot-4, 220 lbs) has lined at both defensive tackle and defensive end in his previous two seasons on varsity.

Errol McCarthy OG (DePaul)

McCarthy is looking to build off momentum at previous stops this off-season, including our Five-Star showcase this March. McCarthy holds a lone offer from Temple at this point.

Nick Golz OT/OG (DePaul)

Like his teammate, Golz is looking to keep the momentum going after some solid off-season combine performances and show the Rutgers coaches his new body as he has silmmed down to 280 lbs after playing at over 300 lbs. last year.

Greg Webb (2013) DT (Timber Creek)

All signs point to Webb being the next great DT recruit from New Jersey and possibly a national recruit. Good chance for the Rutgers staff to make a good impression.

Tim Donahue
OT (Howell)

Donahue has recovered well from the knee injury he suffered during the football season, having impressive performances in back to back weeks at the Rivals CT Five-Star Showcase and the Northeast Under Armour Combine. This is a chance for Donahue to show the Rutgers coaches that his feet are quick enough to play at the FBS level.

Lewis Simpson
OG (Camden)

First mentioned a couple of weeks ago here on the Round Table, Simpson (6-foot-4, 290 lbs) is mobile and massive guy, “mauler with an impressive frame” according to his coaches. Another four-year starter on varsity, Temple , UConn and Iowa have shown interest with Iowa being closest to extending an offer.

Andrew Stevens (2014) DT (Camden)

Stevens (6-foot-2, 285 lbs) has already caught the eye of the Rutgers staff, starting multiple games last season for Camden on both sides of the ball.

Shayne Sullivan
OT (Archbishop Spaulding, MD)

Sullivan (6-foot-6, 270 lbs) holds an offer from Temple. He is an intriguing prospect, putting on nearly 100 pounds between his sophomore and junior seasons. The thing Rutgers may be taking a look at is Sullivan’s ability to pass block since his high school is a run-heavy program, running behind Sullivan for over 3,600 yards and 44 touchdowns the ground last year.

Malik Johnson DT (Archbishop Spaulding, MD)

Following Sullivan up to Rutgers is Johnson (6-foot-2, 295 lbs), the stout defender who isn’t gathering a ton of interest right now, but a solid string of camp performance this summer could change that.

Mike Boland OT (Georgetown Prep, MD)

Boland (6-foot-6, 295 lbs.) has an offer from Tulane. Boland is very new to football but grew up on the basketball court which has helped his footwork on the gridiron. Duke, UNC, NC State and Virginia Tech have all shown interest in Boland.

Nico D’Angelo OG (Holy Spirit)

D’Angelo has only received offers from Tulane and Villanova so far, but he is one of the lineman Rutgers has been following for a long time. Holy Spirit is another run-heavy program and D’Angelo is the epitome of a mauler in the run game, however he’ll have to show the ability to pass block to earn an offer.

Malachi Moore
DE (Pope John)

Moore (6-foot-6, 240 lbs) just earned an offer from Temple at its camp, he also started at offensive tackle for a Pope John team that nearly upset eventual champion Holy Spirit in the Non-Public Group 3 semifinals. Moore is another one who is new to football, playing basketball most of his life. Moore has started to take football seriously, earning rave reviews from former Rutgers and NFL defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell at a recent off- season combine. He will also camp at UConn next week, while the University of Miami, Wisconsin and Boston College are all showing interest.
