Who are your favorite players currently on the team and why?

I'll keep it simple and choose 1 on each side of the ball

Offense: Janarion Grant. He's explosive and exciting to watch once he has the ball in his hands. Every time he gets an opportunity to return a kick or punt I'm waiting in anticipation of something great happening. Can't wait to see the new offense giving him every opportunity with the ball in his hands

Defense: Darius Hamilton. He could've went to any college but decided to stay home. With the new coach in place he could've had an excuse to leave and play one more year somewhere else but his loyalty and leadership kept him here. He's been explosive as an undersized DT over the years and am excited to see how he will look bulked up

Mike Barr. He was consistently good in some very dark days, to the point where he kept the team in some games.

Hayden Rettig- heisman quality QB that is literally so perfect two seperate coaching staffs put him on the bench (yes I know it's not official for this year, but deep down you know it is)

I don't really know if I have a favorite. But, Tres Moses was a good player with a great name. Mike Teel because he was the QB without controversy. Ray-Ray, regardless of everything that happened later in his life. (Pretty much same can be said about Kenny Britt!). Sanu because he made some spectacular plays. And, Leonte because he was also sooo good on teams that we just don't seem to refer to as being "sooo good".

Favorite player now or all time?

My Favorite player of all time is Joe Martinek. Son played against his HS Team and I followed his HS Career.

Now: Would have to be grant - due to his special teams play.

Ed Steward is probably my all time favorite. Small for a DT even by 70's-80's standards he was always around the ball. Against #17 or #18 Tennessee he gets moved to MLB and has a career game.

Over the years I've been a big fan of Dino, Webster, Crooks, Moses, Leonard, Jersey Joe and Ryan to name a few.

These days I only root for those who play well and boo anyone who doesn't live up to my standards. Just a too typical RU fan.

Turay for his raw athleticism, sacks and blocked Michigan kick.
Hamilton because other than a touchdown, nothing is more satisfying to me that seeing a tackle wrap up a quarterback
Grant, because well, he's Grant.
Cioffi and Tsimis because they are unsung lunchpail guys who always give 120% effort, love hearing their names called when one of them makes a clutch play.

Dorian Miller. He reminds me of Dermontti Dawson undersized, but uses his leverage and quickness to outmaneuver larger defensive lineman. Being a former lineman I have an affinity for the unsung Big Dogs. I urge you to watch him once and a while, he's very rarely out of position and his technique is superb. He truly is one of RU's best players. IMO His style of play should really flourish in this new offense.
