Five NCAA rule changes to know for 2016

Damn, I was hoping they'd pass the rules for requiring all players to be wrapped in bubble wrap, two hand touch to replace tackling, and the 15 yard personal foul penalty for nasty looks.

I think the concussion lawsuits have them worried.

none of these rule changes really affect the game. The rule about a runner giving himself up, the only major change is the "when in question, it is a foul". Less reversals will happen I guess. If it's close it's a foul?

I really want to see the 1st coach ejected, in protest throw a chair halfway across the field. Now that would be epic.
I'm guessing it will be at IU when Bob Knight returns as a honorary coach for homecoming. It just wouldn't be right if it was someone else !

Why the need to outlaw tripping the ball carrier? Were people getting injured on these plays?
You can get your own or break the other guy's leg. In my playing days, there was no worse pain in my life than getting tripped while running the ball or having a RB's legs collide mine inadvertently while playing safety.

I am winching right now thinking about it. ugh.

A DT I played with in college, spun trying to get of of a block, the RB's shin inadvertently railed his calve. He wasn't the same all season. Inadvertent nonetheless.

Intentional tripping? It is no good for anyone.

Its a good rule.

Did anyone really know that there was a rule in place about how many people had to be on the offensive line numbered between 50 - 79 ?
Could be normal or complicated, but never remember a tv analyst with that explanation. Maybe now.

Those are Oline numbers only by rule. So I would guess you would need at least 5 of them on the line. Its chaos out there, but managed chaos.

Agree. Either it becomes second nature for an official to note this or the new class of officials have advanced math degrees. I'd have to bet on the first one.
