Flood announces Laviano is his starting QB for Michigan

If you watch KF, on his post game press conference, he looks very serene as if he knows his job is safe. KF is more focused on being 1 and 0 each week versus being 6 and 6 at the end of the season. He must know he'll be back in 2016?

Negative.

Today when asked if it is true that Rettig doesn't have command of the playbook, Flood responded: "I'm not going to discuss that in public. That doesn't benefit our football team to give that information — whatever the information actually is — to our opponents."

Talk about throwing someone under the bus to cover your sorry self. I'm disgusted. Does anyone believe that Rettig still doesn't know Flood's pathetically predictable playbook?

This thread is classic but you all realize that this is Floods MO. Doesn't anyone remember the Dodd/Nova debate in 2013 and Kent St or VT.

He's just playing out the string at this point. I cannot imagine any circumstance under which even Barchi can justify keeping him after everything that has happened this year.

This comment confirms to me that Flood is an idiot. The correct answer would've been, "I have full confidence in Rettig and his ability to run this offense, in the event we need him."

The BS answer he gave is him basically saying that Rettig doesn't understand the playbook but I don't want our opponents to know that.

That answer really is throwing Rettig under the bus, even if Rettig doesn't fully understand the playbook, 1. After all this time who's fault is that? 2. According to Flood you have to play to learn, but I guess that only applies to Laviano because Rettig can't even get a series. 3. If Rettig is the more talented of the two but lacks full understanding then isn't it a coaching responsibility to put him in situations where he can be succesful? Most importantly, he is using Rettig's so called lack of understanding as an excuse to stick with Laviano.

I said a long time ago that Fludd was a bullsh×tter. Fludd stated clearly that he won't give Rettig even a series because he believes Laviano needs to play to learn. In his post game interview he said that Laviano was the starter but the he will give Rettig time when the opportunity presents itself, like he did last week and this week.

Total BS, he isn't actively looking to give Rettig time, as he implied, Rettig played the last two weeks because we were getting smashed. He tried to use that as an example of him trying to find time for Rettig. The guy is a total BSer, but it's the one thing he is really good at.

I'm honestly beginning to wonder if Flood doesn't have some sort of subliminal desire to get fired; that deep down he actually knows he's in way over his head and simply wants out. I mean, some of the statements he makes and the decisions he comes up with are almost like a cry for help. -And whether that's the case or not, it's a kinder way of explaining things than some of the other alternatives that could probably be thrown out there.

The idea of having a rookie qb learn with snaps is valid PROVIDED he shows signs of growth, however faltering they may be, as the season goes by. But we're not really seeing this and we're not seeing the coaches give him opportunities to grow. I think he's mastered dinks and dunks behind the LOS, which is qb kindergarten, at this point. They need to move on now.

Agreed, he is a total BSer but he is pathetic at BS too. What do you think the press were thinking when Flood said again: "we feel like he gives us the best opportunity to be 1-0" Most of them were trying to hold back the snickers and wondering how is this stupid, stubborn man making $1 million a year. I imagine that most of them were cringing at his callousness when he threw Rettig under the bus. Good at BS? No, pathetic at that too.

Has he ever publicly announced Laviano would be the starter for the rest of the season? It's pretty obvious he made that decision back in June or July. #FireFlood

We keep blaming Laviano but he has thrown the ball down the field for TD's the difference it is to Caroo. So what is so different about throwing down the field without him? On his interception James was falling down the DB never saw the ball James if not falling down should have been able to go get the ball. The safety caught the ricochet for INT. which tells me why aren't the wr's running patterns to threaten the safety on that wheel route. Really feel the OC is not calling the right plays. Plus what happened to naked bootleg roll outs which both Nova and Laviano had success with. Really missing any form of misdirection.

The INT was underthrown and hit the chasing defender in the helmet. Was James going to reach through the guy's head to grab the ball?

I agree the play calling has been bad lately.

They looked at the video and decided that wasn't meathead football. Meathead football dictates you run directly into the line every time.

I was watching from the stands and saw that play clearly. Ball hit the CB (positioned on the inside shoulder of the receiver) on the helmet, on a slow ass underthrown pass, and bounced off into the safety's waiting hands. I LOLed so hard on seeing that live lol. Laviano gonna Laviano... [laughing]

Even if Laviano is the better QB (and I doubt that), this just goes to the fact that KF has simply failed to recruit a quality QB, continuing the long RU tradition that, in the history of the program, I believe that we have had only one (Savage) QB recruit out of HS that had even a single top 10 offer and probably only three that had top 25 offers (Cubit (MO offer), Teel and Savage). Erney (PSU) and Lucas (UVA and SU when they were very good) had offers to play non-QB positions.

Know this about what RU is up against in Ann Arbor:
Michigan State is the only visiting team to score more than 7 points in that stadium this year. They've pitched two shutouts and given up 7 points twice. We'll be lucky to score.
We might finish with negative yardage ...
