Handful of thoughts and observations now that the season is over...
- Happy that Harasymiak has moved on; happy for him that he got a head coach position and happy for us because I think we need to upgrade.
- Pointed out by someone in another thread, but the lack of young guys ready/able to step-up on D is worrisome. Griffin (I know he's been here awhile), J Walker, Mascoe come to mind among the very small group of younger guys that look promising; Djabome obviously with a very large role, but so inconsistent that Toure's healthy return is critical. Looking forward to Sanders development.
- Highlights, I think, the huge hit to recruiting when Fran left (and the DL coach got sick)
- Overlooked story of the year was Salaam's development
- I wonder if RU had the option to match Bailey's offer and elected not to. If this was the NFL he's the kind of guy that I would've asked to re-work his contract or move on.
- Also wonder if we'll see change(s) among the D-line coaches with a new DC. I don't think Greg was happy.
- Bottom line is the D was terrible, and inability of so many young guys (M Walker, Wright, Williams, Levy, Ofurie) to step-up tell me that a change is needed.
- Never understood Greg's effusive praise of Eddie Allen's special teams. I can't think of a single B1G game in which we won the special teams battle.
- Love the portal additions so far; hoping for some more difference makers on D; predict the RB will be the pleasant surprise of the group (even with the already high expectations)
- If you thought this season was doomed to mediocrity when you saw the first injury report of the year, you were right.
- Wouldn't it be nice if the B1G surprises with a couple more new teams -- and shuffles the 2025 schedules; how do we find 6 wins next year?
