They know that once RU got serious about competing in football, their program collapsed. Their hope was RU would be left out of a P5 conference. Then they hoped the decision to add RU would backfire on BIG. Now that the decision to add RU and MD has proven to be a financial windfall for the BIG, these fools are left to fantasizing about RU getting kicked out. All the time ignoring Orange basketball being sanctioned and football placed on probation for fixing grades and no show jobs. Will the ACC kick them out?

Honestly, it doesnt really matter. What i predict will happen to ru is that ash gets a nice recruiting class this year. It will be The typical rah rah keep the nj players home slogan with a "new" coach breathing "new" life into the program. But they will continue to get beat down over the next 5 years. Once that happens, the big ten shine will be gone and the turd that is and always has been rutgers sports will show its face once again.

What amazes me the most about rutgers is not even that they somehow found themselves in the big ten, and good for them i suppose, but that they have fans at all.

We just went 4 games over .500 in 4 years with Kyle Flood as head coach and all reports from those in the know this far is that Ash and more importantly his staff, is a major upgrade over Kyles staff. Now anything COULD happen and Ash could crash and burn but proclaiming him to be another G-Rob before he's even coached a game is laughable. And wishful thinking on their part. They seriously can't lose enough as far as I'm concerned. And FWIW, it's easy to proclaim Babers to be the next Terry Shea (west coast guy with no eastern ties, heavily pass oriented, never was head coach at a major program, etc) yet I will give him the benefit of the doubt until he coaches there for a season or two.

Agree. They believe any year now it will go back to 1998 for both Syracuse and Rutgers. Last year may have been the closest we've come to that level of ineptitude and a new coach was hired immediately. Meanwhile, they haven't smelled anywheres near the success they had since McNabb left. The Great Expectations reference was spot on!

...Good call on the '03 post-game basically capturing the raw essence of the cuse-Rutgers 'trading places' development. It really sums it up well- the former 'punching bag' pushes back, knocks cuse down, and they respond by basically throwing a tantrum while blaming everything under the sun except themselves and doing everything possible to not give us any credit whatsoever for improving.
