My roots are not in the tri-state area and I have long hated Mike Francesa, anyway. But do people in NY actually listen to him when he discusses college football and us ?
I'm 27 a year old RU grad not from NJ and have been watching college football religiously since 1996.
He strikes me as just another loud mouth NYer who likes pro sports more and deep down dosen't give a shit about college football because when he was growing up college football didn't mean anything here. He's old and uninformed so he only he offers your basic, "drive-by" take on strictly the upper echelons of college football- your Oklahoma's, USC's and the SEC. He has never experienced and therefore dosen't know about the magical aura of a Saturday outside your alma mater's football stadium.
He will never get over our decades of playing Wagner, Cornell and Lehigh because he is partial to pro sports and old, white guy northeast-isms like obsessing over wintery treks to Queens (St Johns) or the Garden over a fall Saturday On The Banks.
We absolutely belong in the Big Ten. lol... its not even a discussion.
