The twitterverse says there could be some truth behind the prediction because Isola has a podcast with Brian Scalabrine (former Celtic), who is the coach and trainer for Cooper Flagg and his brother.
Is/was Flagg currently committed to Duke?

He's publicly stated that it's between Duke and UConn after he canceled his visit to Kansas. Up until now, most people have been saying he was a strong Duke lean so that's why this is a little bit surprising.Is/was Flagg currently committed to Duke?
So of course if he chooses UConn everyone here is going to go nuts that Duke will be going harder after Dylan and we are going to lose himHe's publicly stated that it's between Duke and UConn after he canceled his visit to Kansas. Well luckily you don’t have to make that decision, bc you’d be wrong.Cliff and Edey staying are bigger news than where this guy or Dylan Harper goes.
If next year I had to choose. Cliff in Year 5 or Dylan in Year 1 of 1 it would be the easiest decision I had to make all day.
Cliff year 5 is almost a lock to be more valuable than Harper year 1Cliff and Edey staying are bigger news than where this guy or Dylan Harper goes.

Poor Pike can’t win. When he was bringing in developmental players, part of the fan base was crying that he can’t recruit. Not that he has Ace and Gavin, and is likely to have Dylan, you have another part of the fan base complaining about one and done players.Cliff and Edey staying are bigger news than where this guy or Dylan Harper goes.

Or maybe stay healthy and have 1 or 2 extra playable rotation players.Poor Pike can’t win. When he was bringing in developmental players, part of the fan base was crying that he can’t recruit. Cliff has been a great college player, but with him we have been a fringe tournament team, trying to play our way in the last couple of games every year. That’s obviously better than where we were, but if we are going to take the next step and be seen as contender, we needed to start bringing in better, more talented players.
Sir, respectfully, you are an absolute moronCliff and Edey staying are bigger news than where this guy or Dylan Harper goes.

Teams are always going to be dealing with injuries. If you go through each team in the BIG last year, just about everyone had major players going down that impacted their seasons. A couple of guys are always going to get hurt.Or maybe stay healthy and have 1 or 2 extra playable rotation players.
2022-23 was trending towards a team that was a title contender. We didnt stay healthy and we still needed one extra player.
I dont buy we need one and dones to win it all. The game is always changing. Teams with decent talented, connected, and peaking atbthe right time can win it all.
Couldn’t hurt to try it with one and done players, those teams can, and have, won it all. Being connected and having blue chippers are not mutually exclusive.Or maybe stay healthy and have 1 or 2 extra playable rotation players.

Explain why i am wrong or you disagree.Sir, respectfully, you are an absolute moron
….and those that dont get the injuries have the chance to be left standing. Because it is literally a program changing recruiting win. The step that RU basketball has not been able to take for 30+ years.Explain why i am wrong or you disagree.
I thought it has been almost a given that over the past X amount of years Myles or Cliff have been the most inportant/valuable player on the team.
They don't play the same position.Elite recruits will always have Duke as one of their top choices. So of course if he chooses UConn everyone here is going to go nuts that Duke will be going harder after Dylan and we are going to lose him

We agree to disagree. I think your expectation are way to high on what a 17-18 year old can do. Plus i don't know where this "general" comes in.Because it is literally a program changing recruiting win. The step that RU basketball has not been able to take for 30+ years.
The number #1 Jersey recruit that spurned traditional bluebloods and cement RU/Pikiell as a new national threat?
Oh? and you would be adding him to another NBA Lottery pick.
Please get out of your vacuum and smell the roses.
Cliff is great but you are also WRONG on which player makes a more immediate impact. Harper is a true general. Something that 75% of college rosters do not have. The tournament is also a guard driven tournament, I will not overload your pea brain with actual X's and O's because you obviously can not grasp the college basketball landscape
B Knight doesn't have a drinking problem.Gentle reminder while you are talking about winning it all ....... that we haven't ever won the BIG conference regular season nor tourney (even with your most important player Cliff & before that Myles). Rotation players and depth are necessary on any team - and unless you think Pike cannot build an entire roster, bringing in highly talented players should mean that the overall strength and depth of the team increases. I happen to believe that Pike knows what he is doing in terms of Roster Construction and especially team defensive schemes and will make it work even with higher ranked guys. You have made negative references to guys like Hyatt and Chol as if everything always remains static. My feeling is that players continue to grow and develop whether they are a 1 and done or a 4-5 year rotation player their senior or post grad season. If I can continue to grow in and develop new skills in middle age - I believe that players in their late teens and early 20's can do so exponentially.
In terms of 1 and dones - there are other indirect benefits of increased media attention which will draw fan interest and higher revenue streams as well as increased recruiting momentum. These players also have networks of other AAU Players, Coaches and Sponsors - and might even draw positive attention back to RU even after they enter the League.
In case you forgot - even in Hoosiers the Hickory Huskers (real life = Milan HS Indians) there was a stud player on the roster. Jimmy Chitwood (real life = Bobby Plump who as Indiana Mr. Basketball and went on to Butler).
I think there is a very good chance Cliff is playing college basketball in 2024-25. A lot of my thinking is nased under the assumption getting him paid will be figured out by then.Until we make it to the second weekend of the tournament (or beyond) I will not fully get over the last 5 minutes of the Houston game. Cliff is not coming back for a 5th year, He basically said. Dylan will be expected to get us there.
I love Cliff but Harper changes the trajectory of the program to a new level. He easily can be a lottery pick the following year and everything every coach has said about RU changes immediately. Not to mention, Ace, Dylan and Gavin could become the best trio in college basketball.Cliff and Edey staying are bigger news than where this guy or Dylan Harper goes.

changes the perception...I love Cliff but Harper changes the trajectory of the program to a new level. No one knows how many wins they will have but the program is elevated to a new level over night in every way.changes the perception...
Harper will probably be a lottery pick and a future NBA all star. I don't know how much of that translates in to NCAA wins in 14-20 months from now.
Nope, I do not agree. This is the worst take I have ever seen on this board, which says a ton.We agree to disagree. I think your expectation are way to high on what a 17-18 year old can do. Plus i don't know where this "general" comes in.
I definitely don't have a pea brain and the college basketball landscape is changing and none of us know where it is ultimately going. I am confident in my belief the teams that have the best chance will be those who have multi year players.
Green FIG is very obviously someone who does not watch college basketball or is just not a fan. To not understand the significance in recruiting circles alone shows a complete misunderstanding of college basketball. No one knows how many wins they will have but the program is elevated to a new level over night in every way.
I am a 20+ year season ticketholder that barely ever miss a game. I am very appreciative of what we have and what it took to build our program to put us in this position.Green FIG is very obviously someone who does not watch college basketball or is just not a fan. I'm sure they are a fan of Rutgers but they do not understand the sport. It's a toxic sentiment to cause a divide between fans, current players, and recruits
This is embarrassing. You should be embarrassed old man. Rivaling KYK for board stupidity.I am a 20+ year season ticketholder that barely ever miss a game. I am very appreciative of what we have and what it took to build our program to put us in this position.
I also understand why we are where we are and how this program was built. Defense, chemistry, outworking opponent, and players respecting coaching staff. Shot blocking 5 who is a plus rebounder has been a staple for 6 years now.
It is not going to be like changing your fantasy football lineup moving Dylan Harper in to your flex position and instantly adding 8 points to your expected point total for the week.
I hope that new one and done guys come in and buy in immediately. This where I have serious doubts.
Watching this team up close and practically every minute I respect what each player has done to build this program. Primarily it is effort. talent hasn't been high up on the list.

@MiloTalon13 want to explain the passive aggressive laughter emoji? Or do you like to just drop those and run?I love Cliff but Harper changes the trajectory of the program to a new level. The perception of the program certainly changes to a degree on the day when he commits. The follow through is the unknown. No one knows how many wins they will have but the program is elevated to a new level over night in every way.
Pike is doing the same thing here that his mentor Calhoun did at UConn. Come in, play hard and gritty the first few years, and then get better players in who are more offensively gifted to give yourself a chance with the top teams.I am a 20+ year season ticketholder that barely ever miss a game.
