First 58 ever on PGA tour. Amazing that a guy so late in his career can be the first to pull it off at Hartford. Great guy.

What did they do to this course on Saturday and Sunday? The scores were reasonable on Thursday and Friday and then they had them playing from the senior tees on the weekend. I see so many low scores. I thought PGA made the course hard on weekends.

Furyk was -12 today. The leader is 14 under right now on the back 9 on Sunday so to say the least his accomplishment is amazing.

I just got home and turned on the Traveler's and watched 49+ year old New Jerseyan Jerry Kelly finish up a great 64 to be the leader in the clubhouse at -13. Figured that was a pretty big story. Then they showed the leaderboard with Furyk at -11 after a 58 and I had to rewind to make sure I saw the score correctly, as anyone who follows golf knows that 59 has been the record for decades, held by a bunch of people (including Furyk). Wish I had seen it - amazing.

Furyk is a prime example that you don't have to drive the ball 320 yards to be successful.

Interesting stat. Furyk has finished 10th or better in 33% of the tournaments he's played as a professional.

I didn't know Jerry Kelly was from NJ. I know he was born in Madison, Wisconsin and still lives there. He went to the Univ. of Hartford. What is his connection to NJ?

Great finish by my buddies son Russell Knox and historical day by my neighbor Jim Furyk.

None - brain fart. Was thinking of Jim McGovern (from Oradell) for some reason, maybe because they're contemporaries and had similar careers.

I saw that Furyk was -12 on the day through 17 holes. I then turned on the golf channel and saw he was on the 18th green in 2 and had a birdie putt for a 57. He obviously missed the putt, but the announcers said something really stupid. Since the course is a par 70, it's a bit easier to shoot a 58 than if it had been a par 72. But the announcers said being a par 70 takes nothing away from the achievement. I have to disagree. I think Furyk should get an asterisk in the record book.

Morgan Hoffman is NJ born and raised. 2 time NJ HS champion at Ramapo HS. I know there's at least 1 other Jersey product on tour.

I know for a long time McGovern was the last NJ resident to win on tour (Shell Houston Open). Don't know if it's still true.

He just missed a couple of putts on the back nine, including one lip-out. He hit all but one fairway and all greens in regulation. It's far easier to play from the short grass. And his iron play was spot-on. One hell of a round.
