So I just happened to be looking at our 2015 class of commits and I saw the following:

Jack Shutack = 275 lbs
Zach Venesky = 280 lbs.
Jonah Jackson = 285 lbs.
Manny Taylor = 270 lbs.

These are ALL kids who haven't logged a single minute in the top-notch Rutgers Strength and Conditioning program! If you just look at the results from the past season (granted the results are probably a bit overstated) every player was able to gain SIGNIFICANT weight. So guess what?

EVERY SINGLE NAME LISTED ABOVE will be 300+ of "GOOD" weight by the 2017/2018 season with Jackson and Venesky most likely at 310 - 315 lbs.

Talk about being able to catch up the the Jones very quickly. And we just went 8-5 in our very first season when we were undersized in the trenches.... Just imagine what is coming now that we will be on an equal level now size-wise in the trenches. I am very excited about these boys time to get them eating and lifting day in and day out!

(Oh and a little extra, on the DL Kaamal Seymour is already 270 lbs. so I predict he will be 300+ lbs. by the 2017/2018 season as well!)

Man I put on 30-40 pounds the last couple of years and no one in my family is jumping for joy for me. Maybe this is what they mean by good weight versus bad weight.

Last year, we were not undersized on the offensive line. Lumpkins 310, Alexander 290, Johnson 298, Mueller 300, Bujari 295. Most of these players only gained 5-15 pounds in the 4 years at Rutgers. They were actually on a diet. How do you only gain 5 pounds during your growing years? The DL is undersized but purposely. Hamilton has been here 3 years and gained only 15 pounds. Rutgers wants them to play at this weight. I been saying this for 3-4 years. I saw the Penn State DT gain 40 pounds in 1 year. Just recently Rutgers has been going after the 320-350 players and getting them to lose 20 pounds.

Good point I was always under the assumption that we were undersized on both sides of the ball in the trenches, but you're right it seems like we were only undersized on the DL.

Even though I do think the days of us having even single starting OL under 300 lbs are over. I think everyone of these boys will be 300 lbs. + by the time they are starting. (not counting if injuries force them into earlier action)

Seymour and Taylor are listed at 295 on scarletknights.com

Depending on where Roman ends up, OL or DL, Rutgers has at least 3 NTs, Joseph, Wilkins, and Seymour currently on the roster between 290-300lbs. The best part is they all should be here through 2017 at the earliest.

The B1GGER the BETTER. ALL of those 300+ lbers will be able to move.OR COLE will know the reason why and they will suffer.Nothing wrong with 300-330 lb O linemen.S&C will get and keep them mobile and agile.

It wasn't so much the starters that had to put on a few "good" pounds, but the backups as well. Where we fall short is with the backups, 2nd and 3rd team. When we consistently have 310-320 Olinemen and 290 - 310 Interior DLine, that's when we will be matching B1G teams. Lets not forget our DEnds, who should all be between 6'3" to 6'6" and within 245- 275 pounds of "good weight."

I like our trend the past few years, but not there yet.
