Larry Brown? He put SMU on major probation. And he's like a thousand years old.

Larry Brown is over 100.

Larry Brown has won over 20 games the past 19 of 20 years I don't care if he's 300 years old. He'll hire some young, very aggressive assistants and win 20 for RU the next 3 or 4 years until we get put on probation. And he'll be a hero.

And get us sanctions. Please...

Ok. We got the Larry Brown thing.

Rutgers has a executive search firm assisting with the hire, maybe the same one that identified Chris Ash. I would expect more names to surface and Hobbs will talk to the potential candidates. The one that wows him when they talk will jump to the lead.

As much as I want Masielo, the recommendations from the search firm will rise to the top of the list. Speculation that Hobbs has already targeted a top 2 or 3 is probably inaccurate.

When Flood was fired, Chris Ash's name was not on any list mentioned in the media until his meetings with Hobbs were discovered.

With a search firm involved, maybe the hiring process won't go as fast as I thought it would.

It was 12 days for the Ash hire. I think his name surfaced around day 6 or so.

I just read the search firm confirmation and name of the firm on a website. Hobbs may have some ideas but he will certainly wait for the list and the package from the search firm.

That makes me feel better, but I was hoping by Monday the two finalist would be named or RU would announce who was hired.

Search firm is good idea. Lets see what is out there. They can contact agents and assess levels of interest. Unless it's someone not still playing, it will have to wait anyway. Not much happening right now in terms of recruiting, so taking our time can't hurt.

We're over 24 hours with no leaks!

How long do you think it will take for the executive search firm to present Hobbs with a list? That's when we'll have some leaks. Hobbs' secretary will open the mail and then call ESPN.......lol

from Zagsblog........

The executive search firm of Eastman & Beaudine will handle the Rutgers search, a source told SNY.tv.

Search firm is critical for RU. You want to explore what type of issues and concerns are critical to potential candidates. It is so much more than simply compensation for the head coach. Some things that may appear obvious rarely are that easy to determine. Engaging in due diligence with the assistance of a search firm will provide Hobbs with a substantial amount of critical information.

I have no idea what RU will do. I do not think Hobbs has a true list at this juncture as he truly needs to understand what are the parameters he will need to meet for potential candidates. There may be folks close to the program offering names but I believe that is nothing more than basic speculation without any legitimate idea of what Hobbs will be looking for.

As I mentioned in a thread last week I believe Archie Miller would be a tremendous get. I just do not think we can satisfy him concerning compensation and strong financial commitment to the program. I do not have any inside info - simply pure opinion.

I think it starts and ends with the names on the list of recommended candidates. For football, Hobbs was given 6 names from the search firm......Chris Ash is the one that knocked his socks off when they spoke.

Anyone who wants the job should listen to what Hobbs had to say about Ash being the best interview from a candidate he ever had and do something similar. No one is going to grab this job just because the local media has their name on a list.....they better have a plan and impress Hobbs with it.

Rutgers basketball has no identity, no history .....the candidates need to have a good plan about what they want Rutgers Basketball to look like in the future.

What are you LOLing? This is basketball, not football. You can win a national title at Xavier.
We've had Xavier to Viriginia, Xavier to Ohio State, Xavier to Arizona. You don't take this run down Rutgers program when your at Xavier.

Chris Mack?

Drugs are bad, kids.

We don't just stop there. Some think we can Mack OR Archie Miller!

Lots of stuff I enjoy reading on these boards, and the "How about Chris Mack (or Archie Miller)" posts are good for a chuckle.

All these searches include the use of search firms. RU has done it, including I believe for hires that didn't work out.

We need a search firm to find the right search firm. I would be happy to take a big consulting fee on advising which search firm to use to select the right search firm to make a list of coaches who might take Hobbs' calls. Then Barchi can just allow some politician on the BOG to insert a candidate at the last minute who will be hired.
