Game of thrones. ..oh boy

Completely caught up with every major event in the books now. Not sure where the TV show will go from here.

why would she resurrect snow but not her king?

The book does a better job of illustrating Melisandre's motivations and the importance of prophecies. She follows Stannis because she believes he is the savior of the world. She is also intrigued by Jon and has confusing visions about him being important as well in the end.

Would she have to have the body in order to resurrect Stannis? If so, that could pose a problem.

We do not know that Stannis is dead. And this was not in the books unless it was released as an early chapter in the next book. Maybe Brienne did not take his head.. maybe she saw Sansa and Theon at the last moment...

unfortunately, i think we have seen the last of Jon. the creators (of the TV show) viewed Jon like his father -- a very good man who did what was best for the common good as opposed to himself. we know how that ended.

According to the actor, he knew for a year his character would be killed off. He said in an interview recently Snow is dead and will not be coming back.

Sorry to say this is not a case where he's just pining for the fjords.

I'm just glad the book nerds no longer know more that TV watchers & can just sit back & enjoy season 6

Or just refuse to watch it until the books are published which I read that some are planning to do.

Rutgers should have full payouts from the Big Ten by the time the final book is published.

Why was Ghost able to protect Sam and Gilly but could not protect Jon Snow?

I just read the Kit Harrington article. It does appear he will not be in seaso 6. Point blank he confirmed it. He did leave an opening for season 7 thought. It is possible season 6 evades the wall the way book 4 did. Maybe they introduce the Greyjoy storyline to help fill up 10 episodes and get back to Jon in season 7.

Hmmmm... very interesting and possible. There had to be a cart of hay (or something) at the end of Theon and Sansas' leap.

Snow drift.

And I think Stannis is definitely dead. Brienne would have no reason to spare him and the foreshadowing established with Melisande's departure was pretty unmistakable.

Very disappointed in Jon Snows death. It seems the Nights watch for all their talk of honor and code just kill off any leader they don't like. Would like to know whatever happened to his younger brother. It's been so long I forgot his name.

Bran? Yeah. No sign of him or little brother Rincon (sp) all season.

As for the Night's Watch... They deserve everything they get for screwing over the best leader they could have asked for. As somebody else said above, I think the NW just sealed their own fate. How do you think the wildlings will take it when they find out?

Agreed. She not only swore to defend Renley... she loved him. Besides, after failing to uphold her oaths to Catlyn Stark and Renley, I doubt anything was going to stop her Valeryian steel from hitting its mark. I mean, she did name the sword "Oathkeeper", right?

With the admission of the Wildlings to The Gift and the death of Jon Snow, the Night's Watch is superfluous. There aren't more than a hundred of them at this point and there's nothing to guard the wall against. The Others will come, regardless. That ultimate battle now belongs to whomever can reunite the seven kingdoms.

I was wondering why the mother did not appear this season. The Witch is at the wall, that's why.

The witch did not bring her back.. That guy in the Brotherhood without Banners traded his life for hers to bring her back (echoes of Arya and the faceless man in this last episode). Lady Stark becomes Lady Stoneheart and is in charge of the Brotherhood seeking vengence from one and all.

I suppose the problem for the TV was how to handle Brienne and Sansa and so on. They wanted Brienne up North.. and if Brienne was there.. she couldn't face Lady Stoneheart in the Riverlands.. which was a big part of the undead Lady Stark's reason for being.

It looks t o me like the TV guys made some choices for cost reasons or pacing or drama .. and now have to shoehorn everything in to fit. Getting hard to do that.. lots of moving parts here,.

Speaking of the ultimate battle...

I was trying to think of how an army could possibly beat the white walkers. Not nearly enough dragon glass in the seven kingdoms I'd imagine. And while your comrades are struck down, they just add to the enemy's numbers. No way to burn the dead bodies before they rise again...

Oh wait... dragons!

Bran is now under the great weirwood tree where he has fused to the tree to become the new 3 eyed crow greenseer. He can now look out at any place in the world that has a weirwood tree planted and communicate from them. Not to mention he can warg into distant animals and such.

Well, you went through a huge chunk of the books not seeing Bran, and he wasn't part of Season 5. So Martin left Jon Snow's fate dire-but-not-done, and open-ended. So it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility that Jon Snow could not show up in Season 6 (the last scene of the season would be somewhat badass) and then be brought back in Season 7. Between Beric being resurrected, Lady Stoneheart being brought back, there is certainly precedent.

I think Snow is dead for good.

My belief is that Martin's story will eventually end where it began, with the Starks. Jon Snow blurs the picture. I think that Rickon shows up in the last book / season as the sole remaining male heir to Winterfell.

I'm not sure about jon. There are a lot of theories and a few things going for the Jon lives side, he is a Warg and he may be a Targaryian. In the book his last word was Ghost so the theory goes he Wargs into Ghost and the Mel brings back his body and he wargs back in. In the books Mel saw Jon in a prophecy and stated something like, He was a man, then a wolf, then a man again. Also, you have the three Dragons who are going to need three Wargs to control them to take on the White Walkers, Dany is one, Jon could be the other, not sure who the third may be. that's my guess.

They're also pretty stupid, killing Jon AFTER letting in all the wildlings. If they wanted him dead, they should have just put an arrow in his heart when he was outside the gate.
