Anyone been to one of these before? I was thinking of bringing my 16 year old son. Would he enjoy it? Also, can I park at the RAC and walk over and back for the game?

I think he would really enjoy seeing a packed RAC featuring a Jersey showdown between Rutgers and "That team up North"

My one concern is how much blue will be in the building
The concern that matters is the talent advantage Seton Hall has at most positions.Rutgers must play their best game of the season to have any chance of winning. There can't be 4 minute scoring droughts.

Yes we know that our talent level is not yet where it needs to be. You continue to harp on that over and over and over again.

Agreed. If the better team always won, why watch the games? And yes, being sold out actually is the most important thing for the program. We need interest. We need people to come out and enjoy themselves so they come back.

I don't care how much blue is there, as long as everyone wearing it has to hold back tears on the way out.

We took the train up to Newark yesterday for the game and The Hall played well. But VCU is not the VCU of past years-----not close.

I will say this about the Rams----the Pep Band they brought was excellent

RU is due to get somebody at home and hopefully it happens Saturday.

When a problem area continues for decades its worth harping on because the status quo is unacceptable. Some fans want it both ways knowing the facts but not wanting to hear it publically stated.Seton Hall is a reality check for fans .Hobbs understands the importance of this game based on his comments regarding bragging rights in NJ to the victor.

SHU did not play well in the first half but VCU played poorly. Second half, SHU was dominant because they shared the ball.

I’d finally love to hear the chant “We Own Jersey” coming from the good guys in red.

Thanks ScarletDave, we fought Florida State to the buzzer. Last year took Wisconsin to overtime and they made sweet sixteen. Seton hall is good but they are not Duke. Need to play well.

SETON HALL game sold out. Fans on both sides love to say we aren't rivals. But we are stuck with each other...
We are clearly rivals. Anyone that says otherwise must have been sleeping under a rock. There should be good juice in the building as there was for FSU and MSU but now sold out with a good number of Hall fans. I expect some body blows and some good old fashioned pushing and shoving and hopefully no punches thrown. Pike was the first coach in a while to make Rutgers good enough to compete last year in a game Rutgers probably should have won but this year I think the game goes to the wire and hope RU is on the winning end.

Should be good. Nothing too exciting, but there are arcade games and Thomas Sweets ice cream.

And yes, you can. The Rutgers Zone is in the Livi student center, about 3-5 minute walk from the RAC.

Give Pike a chance to bring better talent in. Upgrades are coming. It's not his fault the program is in the shape it's in.

I like Pikes a lot but he swung and missed on Bullock, Mensah and to some degree, Sa
I think those guys were all he could get at the time. His first class was just put together best he could given that he was just hired and most had already committed. The guys who came in this year were part of a class that had not yet seen the improvement in the way Rutgers played. Mathis, Harper, Kiss should be huge upgrades.

Sa at least was being courted by Shaka Smart and Texas. Mensah/Bullock had zero high-majors offers or even interest outside of us. Bullock had some low-major offers, but it doesn't even seem like Souf would be playing in D1 if not for us.

On the flip side, I also believe we were the only high-major offers on Thiam and Omoruyi, and we were also the only high-major in on Geo Baker (although he had a ton of mid-major interest and probably would have gotten more attention if he waited to commit).

All this is to say it's a gamble to go for under-recruited guys. It's almost impossible to win solely with 3-star, under-the-radar types (one notable exception is Texas Tech this season).

So getting Mamadou was big, getting Montez Mathis is big, and getting Shaq Carter (who had offers from Xavier, Auburn, and Wichita State, among others) is big. Ron Harper Jr is the only under-the-radar guy in the next class, so as long as Pikiell continues to transition into mixing it up with other major-conference schools, I'm confident.

If we continue to recruit guys like Mensah and Bullock with ZERO high- or mid-major interest (Diego Willis makes me nervous for this reason) then I'll be concerned.

Thiam had some high major interest or offers, it just wasn't as publicized due to the kind of recruit he was. When he first committed to Jordan, it was reportedly over St Johns and Seton Hall.

Certainly not giving up on Thiam, but how many minutes a game would he get on a top 7 Big Ten team.

He's certainly improved and been serviceable but we'll eventually need more out of a starting wing.

They might not be Duke, but they are one of the most talented teams we will play this year. They have several upperclassmen who can score, rebound, and defend; and they have guys that can absolutely explode for points in a short period of time.

This will be a VERY tough game, no different than FSU and MSU, and potentially even harder since SHU will have a very large contingent of fans cheering for them, so it won't feel as much as an "away" game as normal.

I agree it will be a very tough game.

Can't agree they are as talented as Mich State

Yup... I fear their veterans guys are going to get us into foul trouble (particularly Delgado against Doucoure, but also their guards against Baker) and then be able to feast.

They lost to Rhode who plays tough D, not unlike RU. While SHU will have their very fair share of fans, guessing the RAC RU fans will be more electric than usual. We could have beat them last year at the PRU and with MSU, FSU, and Minny, we are just as battle tested. I believe that we will win!

Best SHU memory... Rashod Kent making the pu**y symbol with his hands when fouled by Darius Lane. The student section then erupted with a “Lane’s a pu**y!” chant. Those were the days when both teams were decent, and it truly felt like a rivalry
