please keep the if my aunt had balls comments outta here.

WHAT IF we simply mustered up a few more points and beat hartford, stony brook and @michigan state tonight? We’d be 14-4 with 4 losses coming to top 25 teams and with 2 wins against top 20 teams. With a resume like that we’d be a legit bubble team.

I totally recognize were not there yet and its gonna take another year or two but this is just simply how close we are. Were not that far off and the crazy part is we dont even have that much offensive talent. The future is so so so bright.

well for one if my aunt had balls....ugh no point in playing this excercise, the team is exactly where it deserves to be....11-7

yes it would be in NCAA consideration because of those wins although it would have to try and dog that really bad OOC...in your scenerio RU probably would have to go 10-8 in league play to probably be in at 22-9

I am not sure I agree with not far off, because next year we do lose Freeman and possibly Sanders...this team still has limitations, it can play close competitive games but its another thing to pull them out, this team still learning to do that...coming along but still not thinking NCAA until year 5 of Pike, maybe year 4 if EVERYTHING falls into place but I see that as the NIT building run

Losing freeman and gaining shaq carter will be a big upgrade imo. I do agree if corey goes thats a killer as our entire offense is basically dependent on him. With freeman gone though, eugene will get more time to play the 4 along with a more under contract player in carter up front which should excite people. I think bullock either transfers or “retires” which will free us up to take anither guard imo

I agree. We should have won both StoneyHart games. I think about it alot

And tonight we were about 2 inches from beating MSU at the buzzer.
Coreys shot in regulation was really close.

If we picked up Jose Alvarado instead of Georgia tech maybe we have the depth to win these games.

All seriousness if we pick up some combination of Hyatt, mulcahy, Dixon, Okoro, and etc it'll be very exciting to see what coach pike can do with actual talent across the board. No offense to souf, sa, Doorson and etc but they are out of their league.

Only Sanders and Freeman can get their shot off on a consistent basis. Without those 2 next year, watch out. There were some possessions when Souf was in that were absolutely terrible. They were basically offensive TO's. We are so bad offensively that it's scary. We are possibly the worst in the country if you add up all 3 categories (2's, 3's and FT's).

We played a ton of total cream puffs and lost to 2 of them this year. We aren't anywhere near a bubble team. No inside game. No outside game. We take a ton of tough shots and very rarely get good looks (Geo missed the best open look we got all game).

I like the rebounding, reduced number of the TO's and getting back on defense.

Couldnt disagree more on your freeman point.

What i do agree with though is that we are inept offensively outside of corey running the show basically but thats whats so incredible about us playing games like tonight

KYK1827,

I never said I liked his shots. Last year, it felt like he'd get blocked 4-5 times vs. B1G competition. I'm not a fan of him taking any 3's, even if they go in.

When I close my eyes I can see what a Pikiell team will look like someday. We just need better players in order to get there. Two more years of bringing in, hopefully, better offensive players and we'll win our fair share of these types of games.

Its the anticipation of more talented players that has kept the die hard fans as season ticket holders thru decades of futility. The excitement has ramped up because there finally is a coaching staff that shows promise when it comes to recruiting. As we have seen the last two seasons defense and rebounding have kept Rutgers in most games .The missing link is the absence of shooters/scorers especially in the front court.

If we hit .500 this year, Corey stays, and Pike closes a really good 2019 class....well then I’d say that the corner has OFFCIALLY been turned. IMO that keeps the trajectory from reversing and mo mo training moving. Then the practice facility comes along and bam we’re in the thick of it...
