Give Rettig a shot, Coach!

Why not ? Would we lose any worse ? Let him throw deep 30 times in a row. Let's have some fun for all the darn money we've spent this year. Blitz on every damn play while we're at it. No punting either. All out Kamikaze football !

Because the more reps Gio gets now, the better for the program in the long run, EVEN IF someone else takes over as starter next season. Now...I do agree with the blitzing and non-punting ideas!!!

Program is a complete laughing stock in Division 1 Football.( unfortunately)
An 0-7 team in conference team that we almost beat last year and we get slaughtered by 49-0 today.
Our talent has dropped but not to this level of play.

Ash better make many changes on his staff or he will be gone after year 3.

I'd agree, If Gio were healthy, which he clearly is not. If we're gonna go down these next two games, might as well go out with all guns blazing.

give rettig a shot coach, you cant do any worse than you are doing. lets face it, next week franklin can dictate the score in a game that we thought was winnable at the start of the season

Let him throw deep 30 times in a row.

I don't know which question to ask first:
1. Who is he gonna throw deep to ? We have no deep threat.
2. How exactly is he gonna get the time to throw deep ? In case you hadn't noticed, pass blocking is not exactly a strong point for this team.

While I chose to LIKE this post.. I cna see the other side... IF.. they think the Gio we saw today is more the real Gio than the last two games where he looked pretty decent. It just looked like he wasn't seeing the field today.. coupled with some playcalling that did not help things... like starting the game run run pass... and again sending Hicks sideways (at least he got some straight-ahead quick dives in there).

I think the offensive coaching stinks. Just once I'd like to see a play that looks well-rehearsed be executed well and have it called where the OC looks smarter than the opponent DC. When was the last time you saw a play by Rutgers and thought.. wow.. that was the perfect play call?

We do not have better talent right now.. so we need to be smarter and more hungry and execute better.. perhaps by planning for a very upperclassman heavy team.. by getting a lot of decent young players a lot of experience for a couple years.

If anything you throw Oden on the field at this point and pray he doesn't get mauled.

Playing Rettig would more importantly psychologically appease the fans, which in a 2-8 year may actually be better for Ash's long term survival than anything else.

If Rettig goes out there and sucks, fans can't blame Ash for not playing him. If he shocks everyone and lights it up, Ash can build around him for next year. With nothing on the line... why not?

I say let Gio start 1st half. If we get blown out by half or he has 2 turnovers... you let Rettig play the rest of the game.

Tylin's kind of pointless right now, because all they are willing to do with him is let him run.

Ash, it's time to shut up the fanbase... or uncover a talented qb. Either way, you win.

Negative reinforcement is beating yourself in the head. Gio doesn't need that. Warm up the blond dude!

Gio is not healthy. He played well when he was able to run the ball. If he can't keep the ball and run, a switch needs to happen.

Don't be foolish to think MSU was an "0-7" team. Some teams, like MSU this year, are far better/worse than their record, for a number of reasons.
