Good News

Final. Record 3-9 or 4-8. Flood is gone for sure. He should already be gone. I want us to win every game, but Flood has always been like a deer in the headlights. Just does not have it. Friedgen saved his a$$ last year, but this year he is a victim of his own shortcomings on so many levels.

Didn't a lot of you people pick RU to lose to Kansas? not happy with effort but hey Notre Dame is struggling with UMASS team. Laviano can't throw picks in end zone.

Thankfully Flood coached the team all week and installed the game plan, imagine if he didn't cheat and was actually on the sidelines. We actually made Kansas look competitive, thank you Kyle Flood!

Hamilton will be back next year after redshirting this year and we have better DEs returning next year so Mera leaving is not going to be a drop off there. Paul James does not have the same power and tackling braking ability that he used to have. Hicks/Martin are better and we have some good freshmen at RB coming in also. So not a drop off at RB.
Stop with the logical responses. @RU#1fan is on a roll w/his adolescent attacks on everyone.

I think a lot of you guys are going to be disappointed. I can totally see wanting to get rid of Flood under any normal set of circumstances.

But I don't see anything in the program or the administration that hints at the possibility of a home run replacement.

If we finish this year with a losing season, we will finish the next 2-3 years with losing seasons. We're not in a good place right now and there is no reason to rejoice.

Keep in mind That if Hamilton graduates he is free to go elsewhere despite what he is saying now.

Ummmm, Flood is a known commodity, I'd rather take a chance with someone that can change the tide. We will be losers as long as Flood is the coach. We have to make a change, if we don't we're just going to keep sinking.

Thank God that the B1G snatched us up, the only scenario that would be worse would be getting or asses kicked in the AAC.

It seems like people can't get past their emotional reactions on this subject. I've been saying what you said above for a while, perhaps w/a less fatalistic spin, but nobody's interested. They're all mad so they just want to hang somebody. Lot of short-sighted thinking going on around these here parts.

What I get from what you posted is:
don't expect a quality replacement with the type of money RU is willing to spend and if RU hire another one like Flood it will take 4-5 years to replace the new mistake instead of 2 maybe 3 more years of Flood..

My opinion: Hard to choose , take a chance of hitting one out after getting a new HC from the low rent district, or striking out because hiring on the cheap usually doesn't work out and be stuck with that HC because RU doesn't like to buyout and won't pay the going rate qualified College HC candidates expect to make..

Minor clarification - I'm not advocating keeping Flood.

What I'm saying is that there are absolutely people here who are, to various degrees, hoping that the season tanks so as to ensure that Flood will be gone.

Be careful what you wish for.

Because yes... if the season tanks then Flood will get canned. And Urban Meyer isn't coming here. Nick Saban isn't coming here. We'll be shopping the discount aisle at Coaches 'R Us and none of them will produce a winning season next year or the year after.

We will be back to constantly hearing the words "Rutgers" and "rebuilding" spoken in the same sentence.

Call it frustration. I've been to every home game for something like 30 years and have been a season ticket holder for the last 26 - and there's never really been a time when we haven't been "rebuilding".

In other words, pull for the team to WIN or...

Pray Greg wants to come back.

Honest question - Take the roster we have right now and fast-forward it to next season, subtracting for the obvious losses (Carroo, for example) in key positions. Do you think Schiano turns in a winning record?

by the way who is flood and company that need to go to refresh and get on a better track?

Well,I guess they might be able to fire Flood for cause (big maybe but it'd go to court) thereby saving some of his payout but the coaches are all signed for next year (they got new 2 year contracts) so they'd have to be paid to be let go. Then a new coach would cost more than most think. Even PJ, with bonus, is over $1MM. Point is that everyone wants Flood to go but RU doesn't have the money to get a top coach. And if they did have it, I doubt they'd spend it on a coach anyway.

GS would definitely cut down on penalties, have the D playing much better and the entire team playing solid fundamental FB. The lack of discipline on the field (alarming number of fumbles, poor tackling, holding and offsides penalties) would be rectified. That would be good for 1 to 2 more wins making a 6 win season and a bowl game/winning season attainable.

I think he could at least get to 6 wins, but if he had stayed, we would have had a top 30 class each year since joining, so we would not be having this discussion.

Maybe we whiff on the next coach, but keeping Flood is untenable. I also am hard pressed to believe the next coach will be as much of an off the field disaster.

Dino Babers has two wins against B1G teams this season. That is probably two more than Flood. Aside from Schiano, I see some promising MAC and AAC candidates. Getting rid of Flood will also erase the last TP cloud hanging over the school.

You are clueless . Everyone back ?
We lose our best OL Lumpkin, best LB Gause, best WR Carroo, RB Paul James, DL Hamilton, best DE Mera.
Are you on drugs ? We are getting destroyed next year. Flood coaching makes it all worse.
What are you talking about???? 4 of the 5 starting offensive lineman will be back, the top 3 current receivers, will be back, the running back position is in great hands with Hicks and Martin, Mera will be seemlessly replaced by Lambert, and Hamilton will be back for a red shirt year. In your mind the loss of 4 key players, Lumpkin, Gause, Lewis, Mera is catastrophic??? Never mind that the other 18 starters are gaining valuable experience and will be back bigger, stronger, better! As for Caroo, he is an excellent player and will be missed but he isn't playing now and Grant, Patton, Agudosi, Tsimis will only get better. They will also need one or more of the current or 2016 freshman to step up and make an impact but receiver certainly will not be a weakness next season. Better coaching and next years team has the potential to be a very good team.

Actually, I'm not. I'm talking about being unemotionally realistic about the situation. And then making choices based on reality as opposed to wishful thinking.
Just funning you!

Wrong.
Same players making the same mistakes if not coached properly = possible Cellar Dweller
And "seamless" replacement Lambert is a Senior, so he is gone.

I think the team will be better next year and the schedule should be easier. If Schiano does his light weight defense, no.

No idea where that guy is getting his info. Schedule next year will be a little easier. QB will have more experience. We already lost Carroo but the rest of the WR's are back and Harris has speed to burn so expect him to be the deep threat. TE's are back. OL is back except Lumpkin and there are back ups for that spot.
The D will be better than this year. Guys are getting experience and Hamilton will be back. All DB's come back.
