Grad Transfer froM Baylor to Visit This Week

If it comes down to RU and Memphis and the guy makes his choice based more upon grad school academics than basketball, you would have to think the RU would be his choice. In terms of reputation, there's no comparison unless Memphis has a particularly strong program in what he plans to study.

Memphis only has 10 scholarship players and only 4 forwards or centers. If Rutgers wants him it will be tough to beat them....especially for a guy who is probably looking for playing time after being out.

After I read that I thought the same thing. Looks like there is no one in the way of PT at Memphis

This kid is a one year rental right? There's absolutely no downside to taking him. Only two year if we appeal

Agreed. This will be tough. Tubby Smith is an outstanding coach who has won everywhere he has been. Memphis has no center and has several open scholarships. Lastly Memphis is much closer to Texas than NJ is. Hopefully he will want the challenge of the BIG as well as a great academic school. We should know soon.

Still a 7.5+ hour drive from his hometown of Fort Worth to Memphis, so it's not like his family can just drive over whenever and watch him play anyway. I do agree that Memphis does look like a great choice because of all your other points. I think we can all agree this would be Pikiell's most impressive get yet.

True but it is still the south culturally if that's important to him. Not saying it is but personally I wouldn't want to live in any states voting trump

Would like to see him choose RU, but with what's being said about Memphis' roster,
I look for Rykhoek to go there .
Though Chad could look at Rutgers front-court situation and feel he has a great chance to start because of the inexperience and injuries that Diallo and Doorson have.
Sa is comming from a JC program so Rykhoek might feel he can beat out Sa to start alongside Freeman because of Diallo and Doorson might not be ready for a starting roll
at the start of season.

I was not surprised at all by his choosing Memphis. I hope we just stay healthy and begin to concentrate now completely on the classes of 2017 and 2018.
