Grading the Huskies- from the UW side

Very nice information here:
"As predicted, Rutgers QB Chris Loviano simply had nowhere to go with the football during most of the first half when the score was still in reach. In fact, he had just 71 yards on 21 attempts in the first half. The pass rush was a factor, especially with the pressure that was coming from the inside of the line thanks in large part to Vita Vea and Elijah Qualls. Laviano took three sacks “when it counted”."
NOTE-THAT IS ALL ON LAVIANO. RETTIG SHOULD HAVE PLAYED.

PASS OFFENSE:
"The Huskies did not perform well in the red zone or on third downs. Outside one very nice pass that Drew Sample had on a third and four, the Huskies really struggled. This might be symptomatic of the fact that UW receivers, by and large, lack the physical stature to make space for themselves in traffic. Some of it is simple route execution. Whatever the cause, it is a clear red flag."
COMMENT-OTHER THAN GETTING BURNED ON 3 BIG PLAYS, OUR PASS DEFENSE DID NOT LOOK THAT BAD. ROSS AND THE OTHER GUY WHOSE FIRST NAME WAS CHICO BURNED US WITH SPEED. THE FIRST TD WAS A MISMATCH AS WE HAD A LINEBACKER COVERING ROSS. UW'S QB WAS A MASTER IN HIS PRE-SNAP READS AND CHANGING THE OFFENSE.

RUSHING OFFENSE:
"Speaking of red flags, we need to talk about the rushing attack. I sense that many fans were freaked out about what looked like a lackluster day for the one part of the offense that was supposed to be rock solid. There are certainly reasons to be concerned. The Dawgs averaged only three yards per attempt and put up only 91 yards total for the game.

The mitigating circumstance here is that the offense went vanilla in the second quarter at pretty much the same time that Rutgers dropped their strong safety into the box."
COMMENT-NICE JOB BY RUTGERS HERE. GOOD ADJUSTMENT BY OUR COACHES.

And a funny comment(s):
I think Janarion Grant
Is going to have nightmares about Azeem for the rest of his life. Azeem was hitting him and talking to him non-stop.

That's a gross exaggeration .
Kids that have spent any length of time in New Jersey at all are no longer afraid of anything that would bother a normal person.

Except body hair. Or falling asleep in the tanning bed. Or an alergic reaction to hair gel.
Those kinds of things keeps them up at night, shivering.

Unfortunately the 3 "big plays"COUNT, hence, our Pass D is still a freakin' major problem: 20/29, 289, 4.

The problem here as well was Browning missed only once, otherwise his deep ball was on the money.

Frankly I'm glad we lost this way, if that makes any sense. A loss is a loss but the issues with the team now are clear as day. Maybe we dont have the horses but at least we know what needs to be done in large part because we got exposed by a very good football team in Washington.

Now imagine if Browning was "off" yesterday. And maybe they fumbled a couple of times too. And instead of 48-13 the score was 34-20. We may chalk it up to a "good loss" and ignore the personnel issues we have.

How does "nowhere to go" and "the pass rush was a factor" become "ALL ON LAVIANO"

Laviano isn't Andrew Luck, but if you have an epic pass rush flicking your OL away like roaches and your WR are blanketed there's not a lot you can do. As the old saying goes "When you throw the football only three things can happen and two of them are bad". A guy like Nova probably would have thrown the ball into coverage trying to make "something happen". With Nova a lot of the "somethings" were INTs. A reason Ash starts Laviano over the others is that he tries to keep the wheels on the wagon and doesn't do erratic things with good intentions

You forgot to mention "AND LOSES 48-13"

Laviano needs to inspire his OL to block better.

And protect the ball better, make smarter decions, not lock onto one receiver, not throw the ball to the receiver's feet, and throw the ball to the direction the WR is turning not to the opposite side .

You need it. You have been out in the sun to long your brain is fried.

Give it a rest. We don't have to agree, but you don't have to be a dick. BTW, Ash is still positive on Laviano. Why don't you go to the Chris Ash show, and give him your opinion and ask him a question if you are so upset with his choice.
