If Acuff is feeling healthier and can be a scoring guard option we need

If Grant can replace Martini's minutes and bring some rebounding defense and athleticism

Ace won't have a worse game all season

Dylan was essentially a DNP

...and we were in this game with a couple minutes left. Actually pretty remarkable getting nothing from the 2 stars

I felt the same. It just sucks because there's really no more time to "figure things out." I do feel like better days are ahead but there will be no ncaaa or NIT regardless.

Hot takes:

1. Acuff’s performance today had nothing to do with health, but rather the fact that it was his ball tonight. He’s more comfortable with that than playing off ball as that’s what he’s used to.

2. Grant will continue to get very limited minutes until we’re essentially mathematically eliminated. This is Pike’s MO and has been for years.

Sorry not trying to be negative/rain on the parade, I’m just tired.

Should be wrong on both

Acuff isn't great off the dribble. Let him catch and shoot 3's

It's not possible for Pike to leave Grant out of the rotation after tonight. The genie is out of the bottle

It’s one game and Acuff and Grant looked very good. I don’t think you can expect this every game from them but we should at least find out. Martini and Hayes are in way over their heads in the B1G with this free-for-all offense. They are structured players. Why in the world would Pike think they could succeed here? Cam was twice the player they are and even he struggled at times needing to create for himself with no help from the offense. Lots of bad judgment bringing them in but he got them pretty quick so maybe it was just lazy recruiting.

Good post. But we weren't in it until the last couple of minutes. When we were down 3 with about 5:30 to play, Jerimiah and Ace started to play hero ball instead of team ball. Sadly, Pike didn't run any real sets, and the aforementioned started clanging the ball and soon Wisconsin built up their lead again to 12 points.

1) Disagree. That was the best Acuff has moved all season, by far.

2) I want to disagree but you are probably right lol.

I’ve been screaming for Grant. He needs Martinis minutes. Period the end of Zach.

Acuff needs to start instead of Williams. JWill scored 4 points and had the in his hands FOREVER!

Dylan needs to Touch the ball every possession!! He does not. Not just tonight.

In one stretch in crunch time late in the second half Rutgers made 1 of 14 shots. Not gonna win doing that.

I was encouraged with what I saw tonight. The wins will come together if we bury Ogbole and Martini and play Grant 20 minutes and Lathan 20 minutes per night.

Acuff is clearly the 2nd best guard after Dylan Harper and his play was very much what this roster needs.

Too many wasted minutes early in the season on Martini and Ogbole BUT if they put Dortch into the game, all of these guard drives to the hoop by Tonje of Wisconsin and Blackwell would be shut OFF completely.....There's a 5 game winning streak or 7 out of 9 games with this roster if the staff stops the BS with Ogbole and Martini.

JWill.....just not a jump shooter and playing Acuff along side Dylan, will space the floor and find open 3s.....if you miss, let Dylan Grant climb the glass for tips and 2nd opportunities.

The defensive rotations were much better with Grant in the game. It's borderline a fireable offense to be sitting on Grant and Dortch.

Onto Purdue....

Just start all the freshman and just ball out. At this stage we might as well see what we got.

Acuff first off the bench then Jwill, Dercack, and JMike.

Yup just posted this actually. Start the fab 5 and go from there. Sad to see poor coaching decisions everywhere

Disagree on both, especially #2. Pike was very complimentary about Grant's play, saying he's been practicing hard and is starting to "get it" and took advantage of the opportunity tonight and said we're going to see more of him.

Versus Princeton if Grant had Martini’s minutes and guarded Pearce on that last possession instead of Dercack we probably win that game.

No Dylan and Ace had a bad game though he was hustling. And we were still in it till the end. Bad timing on Dylan getting sick.

Even if you hate Pike, people really think he didn't see what Grant did out there tonight?

Being angry he didn't get more chances sooner is a different issue

Martini and Hayes should not see the floor.

Grant takes Martini minutes plus other minutes. and Acuff eats up Hayes minutes.

Would like to see Dortsch as well to see what he has.

JWill less minutes also.
If you swap Martini and Hayes for Grant and Dortch, the team instantly becomes very long and athletic with more of a focus on defense and rebounding

This could allow us to play in lower scoring games and not get crushed on the boards. Let Dylan and Ace do the heavy lifting on offense

We also would be much more dangerous in the open court. That team could press too
