Anyone have an idea when these lots fill up for a big game like Michigan? Don't have a pass for the game. Any other ideas other than RAC?

This is a night game and it gets a little dark and spooky in Johnson Park trying to walk to your car at 11 pm. You might be better off parking on the Rutgers main campus ($20 behind the Gym) and taking the free bus back and forth.

Don't they have lights out there and tons of buses running to campuses picking up kids? How "spooky" can it get? Just curious, Source, thanks!

For what Johnson Park now charges it should come with a "Bear Job" by Monty..
Do you folks really think the Church and Johnson park charge too much??
Its cheaper than any Rutgers lot expect the RAC. And both are a lot closer to the Stadium than most if the others.

Yes, I think they charge too much. I just paid $20 to park within walking distance of Ohio Stadium.

Thats because you were in Columbus where the average home price is about 170k, and by Rutgers its 400k+. Great comparison [eyeroll]
You'll love parking at a Montana game. Just $5. Maybe you should move and follow them.

And yet, those homeowners with the $400,000 houses can't afford to buy season tickets. Sad.

Ash, Only those of us of a certain age know about the big boy.I still miss him.

Monty's gone? Isn't/wasn't there a new Monty (In a way I hope not-that cage is too small). Actually my Mom/Dad took me to see Month as a kid (maybe ~1970-2. Got my beloved dog in 1971 and maybe was with him at Johnson Park once). Haven't been there in ages (actually last time may have been in the other side of the Park with a cute girl "Laurie Lee" whom I did a sociology/human ecology product there in 1983. Took her to Stuff Yer Face where I half flirted with my 1st roomates (one of his girlfrends/ex who was our waitress and made myself look like cheapie by saying she couldn't eat a whole boli. At some point she told me about her MIT boyfriend (think he broke up with her later). After that tension and I don't think I spoke with her after that (at least much). Monk, thanks for making me remember I actually had an undergraduate date-be it a class project!

Bus, no I though it was just a great joke-only think Monk understood it. I saw the "economic analysis" and agree with the season ticketholders to a large extent. Actually see both sides. Personally after losing 23.5 priority points by Rutgers "mistake" after an at cost non monetary donation to RU I lost all my points. After that (and even before) part of R "crew" meets at Piscataway Mike and brother's house and then drive to R rendezvous point on the way in where we meet Mike's undergrad friend (now on staff) and the brother in law (plus others in R tailgate crew) of the #3 or #4 on staff (whos oft at the meetup point) with whom Mike's undergrad friend is fairly serious. We then take the "caravan" into the stadium.

I've averaged maybe driving in by myself maybe once a year. Have always picked the RAC due to its low cost and very efficient shuttle system. I also didn't want to fight game day traffic on River Road and was unsure where to park in Johnson Park. I was also of opinion Johnson Park was a long walk to the stadium for some reason.

Need cops in Johnson Park on the way to cross the river. Saw two homeys there last year standing behind trees waiting to pounce. Maybe just playing but I'd like to feel a little safer at 11:00 pm.

I haven't used Johnson Park in a couple of seasons so things could have changed. But when I did park at the far end of the lot, you only had the ancillary light of other car's headlights up the lot and unless you had fellow fans walking nearby, you were on your own and in the dark. By the time I got to my car, I was alone and in the dark.

Park in the Biomedical lot for $20 and walk to Rutgers Stadium
Thanks for the info but we have 2 passes at the Greek Church. Having been to all of the away games in the last 4 years, I have seen that every other school

I have 2 season passes at the Greek Church so I'm good, thanks. Having been to all the away games for the past 4 seasons, I can say that most schools charge $15-20. Just offering my opinion based on my experience.

And Rutgers charges $20 too. You just chose to pay more to park in a non-Rutgers lot run by the local church (and others choose to pay more to pay in a non-Rutgers lot run by the local park commission).

But the $20 lot run by Rutgers is there for anyone who doesn't want to pay more to park in a non-Rutgers lot.

To be fair. The $20 lot isnt close. Not really walkable and if the game is close at the end and everyone leaves at the same time the shuttle back is a nightmare.

You can park up the side street (Riverview Ave) from the Greek Church for 20 bucks, and walk to the Scarlet lot or Gate A/B entrance in 5 minutes. Almost every homeowner on that street take advantage of the easy cash.

Not walkable? Unless you are handicapped, it is very walkable. It is pretty much the distance of walking one level of Woodbridge Center. And at Christmastime, most people manage to walk both levels of Woodbridge Center (plus all the extra walking in the stores) without any problem.

If your argument is that all parking at Rutgers football is too expensive then you have a decent argument. But comparatively speaking with regards to what people pay to park in Scarlet green yellow and blue, $45 at Johnson Park is more than fair!
Also you went to OSU game where face value for the ticket was at least $80 and not really in a great seat I bet.

The RAC is more walkable than the Church or Johnson Park. Not only is it 10 times the walk it is 100x more dangerous. Do you even go to games?

I'm talking about the Biomed lot. Obviously not a close as Johnson Park (which is directly across the street from the Stadium) or the Greek Church. But it is slightly more than twice the distance of the Greek Church. Very easily walkable.

And thats my point. You can walk far for $20 or you can park close for marginally more. Very cheap compared to the color lots. I mean not even close

I agree that the Greek Church and Johnson Park are a good deal for the proximity. But those complaining that you can park at other schools for $20 are missing that you can also park moderately close at Rutgers for $20 (just not across the street from the stadium).

My point is that you can park at a lot of schools in the Midwest for $20 or less
But Rutgers is not in the Midwest. Those comparisons are completely stupid because parking is at a premium every where around.
Comparing NYC/NJ/Philly to Midwest cities is a completely stupid arguement.
Because of location. The Church and Johnson Park is one of the best bargins for a Rutgers game!

Any idea time Johnson Park opens Saturday? Thanks. Anybody have a clue.
