Parking without a pass?

If you get to JMA, or really any lot for that matter, BEFORE the attendants arrive, parking is free. Ssshhh... u didn't hear that from me. 🤫

The parking of no more than two motor vehicles on the non-paved areas of the front, side, and/or back yard of the principal property is permitted for a period of no longer than 24 hours, without a lawn parking permit.

Lawn parking permits are subject to the review and approval of the Director of Public Safety, Zoning Officer, Fire Safety and any other department or officer that Township deems necessary.

c.

Permit Fee of $25 must be provided with the application prior to issuance. All permits shall be valid for one-year from the date of issuance.

d.

Approximately how many hours prior do the attendants arrive?
Great question. I prob. should not have teased the free trick without knowing the answer to that, ha. I just know that for the Howard game, it was a 6pm kickoff, but my son and I got to JMA at around 9am to do some mountain biking back in the Ecological Preserve. Obviously there were no attendants yet when we pulled in at 9, but I want to say they started trickling in around 11-12. Now that said, I think it was a unique day because it was freshman orientation at the RAC, so there were busloads of students that began to arrive, so they needed parking attendants to direct the Rutgers busses, too, so it was a bit hectic.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable on this can chime in, but if University policy, I believe, is that the lots & tailgating aren't suppose to start until 5 hrs. before kickoff, then I believe the attendants may start their shifts at least 7 hrs. prior if I had to guess.

Ahhh. “I’m from the government and I’m here to help”.

Not sure how the other lots are but the past couple of years there have been a ridiculous amount of parking attendants at the black lot. So many of them just standing around while one or maybe two people scan passes.

Such a waste.

I think they can use the back yards but no longer the front yards. Pretty sure it changed a few years back.
walked bye the houses first two games, plenty cars parked all over all lawns

The requirement to have insurance coverage should be a no-brainer for the homeowner. The $25 fee is a nuisance.

As other posters have written, there continues to be a lot of parking options in the neighborhood. I parked on a front lawn for $20.

1. Greek Church - Pricey but good amenities, easiest in and out. Reserve in advance if possible
2. Johnson Park - Most convenient
3. Private homes off River Road - cheaper than JP, but harder to get in/out
4. Lots off Hoes lane - 3 beer walk to SHI, but better than options 5 and 6
5. Rac - good and plentiful tailgating scene, busses to and from SHI are a PITA
6. NB/Buelleuch park - last resort
*** The EMT lot off River Road was also a good option if you were an EMT / First aid responder, but not sure they offer that anymore
#6 No longer exists. Not sure if you can park there go to the park, and if that is the case, unless they track you walking to stadium, maybe you can park there.

Meant to ask you about this - how was the ride?
It was good! But there were a few portions that were a bit overgrown from the last time we road those trails (which was the Ohio State game from last season) so we didn't stay in the woods for too long. Instead we came out and rode around Livingston campus, then crossed 18 and road around Busch, rode up to the stadium, etc. Good times! Cruising around college campuses on a bike is def. fun, ha. We did it with my BIL down at James Madison, in Va, too this past Thanksgiving break. Not the greatest for my MTB tire treads, but def. fun... You find all kinds of twisty, turny walking paths, etc. And the sights are ummm... cool, too. ;)

A true legend would have a reserved spot in Schiano's garage. I'm just saying. 🙂
A true legend would have already have Greg's parking pass to White and his complementary seats in 105...or that is where they were between 2010 until he left. He kept giving them to me but I kept going back to the fun side. lol

Can you walk over Landing Lane bridge from the Stadium to Easton Ave? Google maps is not allowing me to walk across Landing Lane Bridge and is instead making the walking directions go along Route 18.

Also, where to the students hang out and party these days? Are they even in the tailgating lots anymore?

Personally I have tried many lots and for the last 4 seasons I use the Hoes lane gameday lot… it is a 20 minute walk from the stadium to the lot. However, once I get to my vehicle I am on I 287 in 6 to 7 minutes Via Hies Lane W and River road which is very convenient for me…I find it more convenient than Jersey Mikes or paying for another lot…I attend a tailgate in the Blue lot but I really don’t recommend the lot if you plan to tailgate…some tailgaters but not many…if you have someone that can’t walk that far I do recommend the Saint George’s church lot…people swear by it and not too bad getting out…

Same for purple this week. It was ridiculous how many attendants were in the lot. I wanted to ask some to head up to the stadium and help with the bag check...

Plus it has "hoes" in the name, which is a great thing. Not as great as "Hooker Ave" in Middlesex. But still really great. 😀

Anyone know if Johnson Park ever fills up if we have late arrivals who will be walking over to the tailgate?

Best bet is to park in the lot across from the Train station. Catch the Shuttle bus to the stadium in front of the Train station. It may cost $20 for parking for 5 hours if you stay the whole game. I have found this to be the easiest if I do not have a PP.

I loved the EMT parking lot! I was a volunteer EMT for 20 years until I "retired". Once I gave up my EMT plates that was it for me. but they ended it a number of years ago. I was great while it lasted!

Fans took over Landing Ln after the game. So many people walking back the sidewalk was gridlock so people started walking on the road and eventually everyone followed so they were forced to stop traffic. I have to say leaving buccleuh park was a breeze. Right onto 18 with no traffic
