Wasn’t a fan but understand the thinking. My biggest issue is the awful play design we roll out in that situation. It’s like we only have one short yardage/2 point conversion option in the playbook.I didn’t agree with the go for 2 at the time and just in general that early usually but I think the 3 possessions in the first half is what skewed his thinking, like how many other chances will we get down here in the second half after what he saw in the first.
If he was truly using analytics and not using human intervention to skew his decision, data only, he would have gone for it on 4th and 1 near midfield. Especially given the fact that limited possessions were going to be an issue and you ran the ball on 3rd and 8 the play earlier. They treated it like it was a 4 play drive than went away from the analytics.
