No reason not to believe he would go to Miami if offered, considering he's based in Florida now anyway.

Schiano would LOVE to take the Miami job. Dennis Dodd said that Schiano "would crawl on his hands and knees from central Florida to take that job"

can't believe people want christbal over schiano... Christobal is Flood 2.0
I do not think Flood won recruiter of the year.
Christobol is believed to have "stain"
I don't think flood had ever been Said to have such

Hoping GS gets the Miami job and leads the Hurricanes to continued mediocrity.

Rutgers wants to hire a coach that can eventually win the B1G. Championships seem to be beyond GS' ability level.

You ain't coaching in the down and dirt "get us the hell out of here" Orange bowl Greg.

Enjoy coaching in a half empty sterial corporate stadium, 20miles from campus and away from Dade Country that made Miami, THE U.

I'll bet Rutgers does. it's just that they can't afford such a coach....if one even existed.
I'm sure Golden or Christobal will just excite 4-star prospects up and down the East coast with the idea of playing for RU.
BTW, that's sarcasm.

He will kill it at Miami. Their aggressive dominating D will be back immediately.

How stupid was that sweaty tie guy to get rid of it.

Schiano is the perfect fit for a Miami. They have an NFL QB in Kayaa and have a very good offense. Schiano needs to straighting out the defense and they will be winning the costal division next year, and play for the ACC Championship. They only need to beat out NC and Va Tech.

I hope he gets it and takes him out of the picture. If he's supposedly tied to all these openings from Wisconsin, to Michigan to USC to Miami to whomever and then if he ends up coming to "little old RU" what does that say?

Those who think he'd be successful at RU will say Greg will do great as Miami's HC.
The ones that don't like him will never admit he'll succeed and continue to bash the man.

The Hurricanes might be making a good move if they hire Schiano, but Greg will fail there if he doesn't give his OC full control of the offense during practice and the game.
The two Ds is what Schiano needs to take care of: Defense and Discipline .
Special teams is another thing Schiano should have an hands on approach

This is the place he wants most and feels comfortable at ?
Could be that or Greg and those schools couldn't come to an agreement on how the program would be run.
Actually I think there are better candidates out there , but Greg will be in the mix :cool2:[roll]:p

I'm sure he will be. But no one ever reconciles my problems with him to show me the logical path to say he can get us ranked more often than not and have .500 conference records and build us up into MSU/Wisconsin type program who everyone universally here thinks is our potential.

In the BE, we recruited in the top 1/2 of the conference and usually top 2-3 and were in the top 1/2 with regards to resources recruiting grounds etc..yet his conference record the last 5 years was 16-19 a little under .500 and he never won the conference once. I'm not including the earlier years of rebuilding and I'm not dinging him for any failed NFL stints, that's all fine with me.

He also had a very hard time beating the top coaches in the conference like Kelly and Rich Rod but at least in the BE those kind of coaches might leave to better jobs. Guess what now the B10 jobs are the better jobs and those top coaches aren't going anywhere and you'll be seeing them every year and even if by chance they do leave these guys all have the money to get the next crop of good coaches.

You can say he's got the B10 to sell for recruiting and he's better than Flood but so what. That's not the comparison and it looks at things in a vaccuum. It's how does he recruit compared to our top competitors, no matter how good he is he isn't going to beat them on that front, no one likely will. So it has to be made up for in other areas.

So reconcile for me with a logical line of thinking how a guy who couldn't really do all that well in conference where we had quite a few advantages compared to conference competitors is going to do well in conference where we have nothing but disadvantages compared to our competitors. Just hoping for it, doesn't give me anything concrete to make me optimistic. That's my problem. I'm not a "hater" whether it's Schiano, Flood, Aranda my guy or whomever, who they hell are any of them to me. I'm not 5 years old but I need logical reasoning to get me to sound conclusions.

Clemson isn't terrible.

I want to like Cristobal, but his job at FIU is not too impressive. Maybe he learned from that job? Maybe he learned from Alabama?

The good thing is he can recruit probably just as well as Schiano or Rhule.

He really is family and loves his family.

The fact that job has been open for months and he just talked to them now probably says something about where he stands on their list.

The fact that they haven't hired anybody and are interviewing him means he has a chance.

He's not connected to those schools. Any agent can get him a phone call. And the AD's will entertain the call. It doesn't mean they have ANY serious interest in Gary.

I figured his agent is bandying his name around but the point is no fish are biting as of now and that says something. UVA to me is the best landing spot for him. Competition isn't as bad, emphasis on winning isn't as high and they also care about academics, etc..

Agreed. But I hope Greg Brown is not falling for this BS. I've been in the entertainment industry a long time and I see this kind of leverage BS to get a better deal. I think Gary wants the Miami job and will continue to string Brown along. We need to move on from Gary and do the vetting process on some of the other candidates.

Do you think the mentioning of a search firm means we are seriously looking at other candidates? Who do you think are the favorites?

I do. I think we're looking at the ones mentioned and I'm sure Richt's name has come up since Maryland is poking around. Now this doesn't mean that in the end Gary won't come back to the banks, but if we are smart on our end, we need to make it clear to him and to his agent that we're not desperate and are willing to go with someone else if he's unwilling to be fair in his negotiations. Personally, I want new blood in here. I want a coach who runs the read option or some hybrid of the spread. I want a DC like a Gary and a very good special teams coach. I'm tired of the pro style and after 16 years I think for us we've become stale and predictable.

Personally, I would take a chance in Babers. I know he's not the sexy pick but the man can flat out coach and runs a great offense. If not him I would look at Rhule. Two years ago Lembo was the sexy pick out of the MAC, but his star has fallen since his team at Ball State has come back to earth.

Why? What has he done that warrants you thinking he could have us beating any of the elite Big Ten teams?

He had high school facilities at fiu and turned a non existent program into one that won a bowl game.

he recruited and developed. He beat Louisville at louisville. If not for a special teams play beats Rutgers that one year. Lost by four at texas a&m on the road. Was down by three vs duke with 5 minutes in the fourth.

His coordinators were good. Coley is now the OC at Miami after a great run at Fsu. Satterfield has done well as head coach at Appalachian state. Tim cramsey (chip kelly guy- his brother was a good friend of mine) offense at Montana state had 42 points per game.

His d-coordinator (listened to Greg and hired Galiano which was his worst dc) have been very good.
Geoff collins is now the dc at Florida
Roof orlando is now the dc at Houston.

He has done a lot with very little. He has charisma and personality and is aggressive and organized.

He was Greg recommendation for the job at the time. Go ask joe Susan what he thinks of Mario.

Steve Longa was praying for him to be hired at the time.
