Harris to Mizzou

I am going to pull the typical defensive fan reaction....

I didn't like his play anyway. Onto the next one!

I like your sense of humor and that surely is needed being a season ticket holder.

Well, at least he went OOC for his new school so we won't have to go up against him in B1G play. -Still, would have been a really nice get.

So, since the time's come to move on whenever this happens in the world of college basketball recruiting...NEXT!

I also didn't think we had much of a chance. Gotta throw your line in the water in order to pull in a big fish, though. Firmly believe the Pikiell party boat will eventually bring in an unexpected big catch.

Looks like we arent going to follow our upswing from last year. Lose Gettys and Nigel. No replacement/upgrade in sight. Such is life.

Well, add geo and possibly Doucoure as two upgrades and I'm sure there are targets we don't know about right now. There's been a lot of transfer movement around the country and I guess we are evaluating if it's worth pursuing a guy that maybe have to sit. There were guards who left programs with other coaching changes and I'm not sure of any interest there on either side?

The fortunes of most programs cycle up and down except RU. As winning is to Duke or UNC, losing is to RU.
Losing in recruiting is a precursor of losing on the court especially with membership in a power conference.Complementary type players are a dime a dozen and Rutgers needs to get out of that mode which is easier said than done.Coach Pikiell and staff are working very hard on the recruiting front but the perception of the program as compared to the recruiting competition has been and remains a stumbling block .

I am not up on the recruiting side of things. I would think the one position where there would be a decent of amount of supply is a 2 guard. I wouldn't be surprised if we found in the next few months a "2" guard that can be slotted in to play 25 MPG. There is no other position on the floor that I'd have this confidence.

The key is for this player to play both sides of the court and be a good teammate and member of the program.

Geo will be a good payer for us. 100% will not replace Nigels scoring from the latter part of last season.

Doucoure aside from here i have seen no notice of him reclassing. Purely speculation and highly unlikely at this point.

I hope your right about the transfer movement and maybe some will swing our way. College bball transferring has become like NBA free agency. It is wild.

The practice facility upgrade will start to be a positive factor for 2018 and 2019. 2018 kids will have 3 years to use the complex and then of course starting in 2019 it will be there for 4 years for a new recruit. Hopefully we can see the RAC facade changed at the same time. It's not the end of world if that takes longer but I do think it's a first impression when a kid visits and it's an eyesore. When I see what looks like a new building on the outside; I think I will really feel like the page has been fully turned. I do love our coaching staff and I think it's all moving in the right direction

We lost a potential recruit. Why are some already so negative? Last year we didn't add Thiam, Sa, Omoruyi and Gettys until very late spring or even in the summer. Our staff is working extremely hard. Some think we should be able get every 4 or 5 star transfer that becomes available. Just about every team is trying to upgrade. It is very hard for us to land outstanding players with our success over the last 10 years or so. I have faith in our coaches that we will add a few pieces over the next few months. I don't think any staff is trying harder than our staff is. I wish some others would show a little support. Being negative doesn't help at all.

We will be better next year. I wish Nigel well, but he could not defend or distribute the way this staff wants their guards to play. Geo will not put up as many points - certainly as a freshman - but he will provide things Nigel couldn't.

I disagree. While i think Geo will be good. I do not think we are better next year with what the roster is looking like. We score almost under 60 ppg last.

Losing our second highest scorer to a freshman who isn't a highly touted talent all the while losing our starting center doesn't exactly set us up to be better. I respect the optimism however and hope we sneak a few guys prior to the 17' start.

Where is this rumor Doucoure is re-classifying?

You guys do understand that OSNA is on an NCAA academic watch list, correct? Almost every kid that comes out of that school recently has had issues qualifying.

1)Chris Obekpa to SJU in 2012, took forever for him to clear
2)Kobe Eubanks a few years ago to Alabama. Failed to clear.
3)Mike Nzei to Seton Hall, failed to clear. Became a partial qualifier.
4)Kassoum Yakwe-SJU. Now he did re-classify from 2016 to 2015 but it took him December to get cleared. Missed first semester.
5)Cheick Diallo-Kansas-Famous because Cheick was a consensus top 10 recruit in 2015. Again he didn't get cleared until 2nd semester.

I don't know the particulars of Doucoure but I would caution against assuming anything especially with OSNA kids. And I would assume that the NCAA will take a fine tooth comb to his transcripts if history with OSNA kids is any indication.

You are discounting completely the development that will come from within the roster. PPG is only one stat and is largely dependant on others (steals, assists, FT percentage, turnovers, etc.). Let it all play out. Nigel was a solid complementary kid, but his loss is not going to set us back at all. Also remember the staff did not even have a full off-season last year. You will see significant improvement from some of these kids this year now that they know what is expected of them. I am also very optimistic we will get another contributor between now and the start of the school year.

The best thing that can happen is that more players transfer and are replaced with jucos /graduate transfers who can shoot .The competition in the B1G is young and talented. The upcoming year is very important in building momentum for 2018 recruiting where so many players leave because of graduation and or other reasons.
