Unless I missed it, I've seen no mention on this football board of , or reaction to, Henry's winning the Heisman.Pretty amazing given all the other sh*t that gets discussed here.

This is one year that I thought a very good case could be made for all 3 finalists. I have no quarrel with the selection, but I would have voted for CM. But he should have another shot at it.

I stopped caring about the Heisman awhile ago. Didn't even turn on the TV to watch award show. I followed it the year Rice was linked to it but that was last time. Seems like award is all about stats. You need best personal stats on team with best stats (Ws etc). I don't see why "best player" has to be on best team in wins. Seems like a crappy team winning more than it should because of one player would qualify. Seems a boring and shallow way to make an award thats supposed to also be about integrity etc. I understand why people thought Reynolds should have been included this year. I think Heisman people are just media hoes really. They look for biggest horse to ride is all.

Well I haven't stopped caring. I like it. It usually goes to the best player on a top 5 team who had stats above the competition and those stats were derived from quality competition!

It is a big deal in the year earned but a much bigger deal in the years to follow.

And Derrick Henry seriously ran over and ran through many men week after week. He is an exceptional player and deserved it IMO.

Also an exceptional young man. All three said they prayed before games. Henry noted that he wore wristbands of two cancer patients. He seemed very humble.

That's what I mean - player with best stats on teams with best stats wins. Kinda soulless. That's media hoe formula. This is what Heisman people say their award is about

"The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. The Heisman Trophy Trust ensures the continuation and integrity of this award. The Trust, furthermore, has a charitable mission to support amateur athletics and to provide greater opportunities to the youth of our country. Our goal through these charitable endeavors is for the Heisman Trophy to symbolize the fostering of a sense of community responsibility and service to our youth, especially those disadvantaged or afflicted. All assets of the Trust beyond the expense of maintaining the annual presentation of the Heisman Memorial Trophy are reserved for such charitable causes. The Trustees, who all serve pro bono, are guided by a devotion to college football and are committed to community service and the valued tradition which the Trophy represents."

Nowhere does the above say they want the best player on the best team. Henry is a gifted runner - always has been. I doubt "diligence, perseverance, integrity" had that much to do with his stats compared to some others. Now if Henry played for Ark or RU he would win nothing. That shows the criteria about character stuff is a lot of hooey.

I don't think Henry was the best, just on the best team. He ran behind arguably the best line in the country. If you watched them play he was a battering ram. He wouldn't get many yards until late third quarter and fourth. Their superior talent on the line and him battering into defensive players wore them down. Seems to me anyone of their stable of backs could do that, he was just the best one of that bunch. That doesn't scream best player to me. I thought McCaffery and Watson did more with less around them. Henry's style reminds me of Ron Dayne, I don't think he's going to do well in the NFL.

Dad gum, another naysayer that missed Henry running over people in the first half as well as the 2nd half.

The Heisman award is given to an individual but it is earned by a team.
