Here it comes. Wait for it.

ask the question with Tylin Odin as QB..we are building something for future this year..start now! no more recycled Flood level qbs need to play..

Could the score have been any larger if Gio played part/all of the game?

Maybe - who knows ... but the ultimate outcome would definitely been similar

Yesterday is not 'concerning' - yesterday was the first game - it was away - 3 time zones away - and against a powerful team that has their system in place &fully functioning - and RU simply does not yet have that level of functionality.
- Now... if we were 6 games into the season - with similar results against some far weaker opponents - and the QB position could only charitably be called 'dysfunctional' - and there was zero consideration of alternatives, that would be concerning

There are so many, many moving parts that have to improve on this team - and until the RU offense reaches a certain level of protection & functionality, whenever Rutgers plays a team of Washington's caliber - the QB position is going to be the 'crash test dummy' spot - whoever is lining up behind center is a bit of a human sacrifice - predominantly going to be getting rough lessons in survival. Nobody really 'refines their game' while their protection is collapsing and they are getting pounded...

- now - when RU plays a more modest opponents - and if RU dials up the cohesiveness of the offensive line - this would be a really good time to ask Gio / Allen / Rettig to roll up their sleeves and show what they've got.

No, there is hardly any separation between Lav, Gio or Allen. Lav is the most consistent so he gets the start. Gio is not fast enough do make any DE worried.

yes, sorry spelling police..We all hopefully will soon be spelling ODEN
Misspelling words such as "illiterate" is one thing. And invoking the "spelling police" clause is arguably justified in such a situation.

Misspelling a player's name is entirely different and should be corrected every time.

Huh? Gio is possibly the fastest QB on our roster other than Oden. He is even listed as a dual threat QB coming out of High School. His problem is his accuracy and decision making.

I'm not saying he's not faster than Laviano. He's just not fast enough to make much of a difference IMO

Their WR accounted for 21 points,
He looks like the real deal.
After the 1st quarter we got beat 24-13.

My takeaways
Good run defense
Little Pass Rush
Secondary gave up the long ball way too many times.
It did seem like the defense was more prepared to handle the bubble screens and quick routes..
I was extremely disappointed not to see a 2nd string QB. This says to me that are QB on the roster are not ready for Division 1 football.
I am not a coach nor "Expert" but I think we have to be able to stretch the defense occasionally.
Lets hope to see some progress by Game 3

Watching the Auburn LSU replay. Auburn has 3 QBs and Malzahn just alternates them every couple of plays. Doesn't matter how they're playing or how the offense is doing. After a couple of plays he just changes them out -- no rhyme or reason as one is a better passer, one a better runner, etc. Result: 2 FGs till 4 minute mark of the 4th QTR.

Announcers hate it. Fans are booing as one has three straight 10+ yard plays, he brings in another QB...the crowd boos...INT. Guess who comes out next series. No wonder Malzahn is on the hot seat.
But, then again, after watchng Wash game maybe we should do it: Laviano, then Allen, then Rettig, then Gio. Could it have been any worse?
