Did anyone else catch the off the cuff remark by AD Hobbs? Ash was talking about the facilities and his impression of them at which point Hobbs says 'this was my first time seeing them too'...

Not to make mountains out of molehills, but does anyone else think that this is odd? Probably one of the first things I would have done was check out our facilities. How can you speak intelligently about them if you haven't seen them?

I caught it and found it odd as well. A tour of the facilities couldn't take more than 30 minutes, and would certainly help him in trying to sell the program (although he seems to have done a good job without this tour).

That caught my ear too - but - It seemed that in the rapid flow of the comments & discussion the phrase "the facilities" was meaning different things at different moments - Ash went on to state that he had been on campus before - had coached in the stadium & thus had seen some aspects - - but had not - until that morning - been on a comprehensive tour of the full extent of the athletic department facilities such as meeting rooms, various work-out rooms, weight room & other areas & equipment - Ash said the detailed tour was great & he was impressed & liked what he saw - then Hobbs chimed in to state similar ...

Given the whirlwind nature of this whole process, it is not too much of a surprise that they both had not previously been on a real in-depth tour of more than what a regular visitor might see.

- molehill?- probably ... you are discussing HC position at a B1G University - if the weight room sucks - but there is a clear commitment to make improvement (as evidenced by the $2 Million /yr offer to you) - you will still take the job .

Wasn't that surprised about Ash not seeing the facilities based on the nature of how college football coaching jobs are filled. But Pat Hobbs - as the athletic director - not having seen them all is a little shocking.

It was a joke..... and even if it wasn't .... He has been essentially working on hiring a head coach since day one. The facilities weren't gonna change in a weeks time.

This is a non issue, and was just him being honest if it wasn't a joke.

Ash stated he was hired over the phone. the only facilities he would have seen prior to his arrival in NJ Sunday night is what any visiting coach would have seen...the field and the visiting locker room.
Hobbs stated at the BB game his first weekend was that upgrading the facilities to make them B1G worthy was a priority. I would have thought he was talking about more than the RAC but perhaps, if he had not seen anything other than the RAC that was not the case.

Non- Issue.......I don't think you need to know a lot about OR sell your facilities to a coach during an interview.

The potential Coach is the one selling himself and his vision to Hobbs.

He has been here one week and spent most of it hiring a football coach and did most of it off campus.

Couldn't care less. He seen them now, you had more important things to do, and in the grand scheme of things it doesn't mean a damn thing.

I get the sense that he flew out to see Ash for in-person interview. Smart move. No one probably noticed him leave the state.

It seems to me from the moment Hobbs was hired he had one directive and that was finding a new HC. I don't think facilities were part of that equation.

Now that Ash is here, Hobbs can turn his energies toward facilities, other teams, cleaning up the AD, and fundraising. He's got a huge task ahead of him but one thing at a time.

Dude was probably averaging 1 hour of sleep a day for the last week. I'm pretty sure getting a facilities tour was dead last on his priority list.

This, plus, all you have to do is click on sk.com, then "facilities," and it'll take all of one quick glance to know that, aside from football, our facilities, pretty much, suck.

were the facilities hiring him? this is so unimportant and he said from the get go that there are facilities updates needed

He was basically just parroting what Barchi told him.

Why on Earth are people trying to psychoanalyzed a joke?

Good Grief!
Don't think it was a joke. He was being serious, which was funny. I'm glad he didn't spend time touring facilities. His #1 priority was to get a Head Football Coach. Now that Ash is hired, Ash can tell Hobbs what he needs to succeed.

Or more likely, he asked about the immediate challenges the department is facing and was told about our infrastructure. Our facility woes aren't exactly a national secret.

Facilities....really?

To me, these two guys represent a real improvement at RU and some people are hung up on whether they noticed the drapes?

Hobbs stated at his hiring press conference that he knew the facilities needed upgrading referring to teams other than football.I'm sure he was referring in particular to the RAC and the lack of a practice facility.

This thread captures the insanity of these boards and the world in general. Nobody can make a joke anymore...

For a moment, could you remove your head from your rectum? I simply asked a question. The man made a statement about how we needed to upgrade facilities. Evidently that statement was made either 1)referencing only the RAC or 2) about the whole without seeing all the facilities. I don't think he should be fired or even chastised.

Welcome to the free football forum by the way were we breakdown the everything - from a recruit's tweet to the meaning of the red helmets on the conference table at HFC Ash's intro - and then bitch about it.

Message over, you may now reinsert your head into your rectum.

BTW, the joke was they he was blown away when he saw them for the 1st time too, not that he saw them for the 1st time with Ash.

Where does the AD sit? If at the RAC, he saw those facilities, but maybe not Hale as no one was there :chairshot:

We got rid of the trough urinals at the stadium. What other facilities upgrades matter.
