Delvecchio loses to Fausz of NC State. Got turned and ridden for almost 2 mins. Dippery's mat wrestling shows me he is our best option at 133.

It's a LONG season Abro! I think Theo has an outside shot. Let's see how Van Brill does once we get into the heart of the conference schedule. But yes, some early season optimism indeed.

149: No. 10 Ken Theobold (#RUWR) hangs on with riding time to beat Beau Donohue (NC State), 5-4.

JVB loses a close one in OT to Walker 12-10. Got sloppy late in the 3rd and gave up a few escapes on the edge that probably could have been avoided.

If JVB can keep a steady momentum, and not get into a funk, like some our guys in the past have during NCAA's,he has a very good shot at AA'ing.I would say right now,if I was a betting man 2-2 at NCAA's,maybe a round of 12.Willie Scott to me,seems like the type of guy too come out of nowhere and AA.

157: John Van Brill (#RUWR) drops his first match today to Aaron Walker (Citadel), 12-10, in sudden victory.

JVB,wrestled very sloppy against Walker.Thats the type of inconsistency I was talking about. If he wants too get on the podium,he can't wrestle like a seasoned AA for two matches, and then loose too Walker, who on any other day would get schooled by MR from NC State.

I'd keep Messner in.For some reason I feel he is gonna come on late in the season. The only way he will get better is if he gets that Big 10 experience. He could win some big matches.

I agree, and also might keep McDonald over Gross at 285. I guess Gross not at Hofstra today ?

174: Phil Bakuckas rolls to a 10-1 major decision over Jonathan Viruet (Brown).

Are team scores being kept ? And is Paetzell's Red shirt blown now for this year?

Mac's biggest problem is getting over powered by larger heavy. He is probably 225lbs at best, where you are gettin the Medberrys that are teetering on 265 to 275lbs.Gross is still a mystery too me.He needs to either wrestle hard, drop too 197 or pack it up.This kid dominated everyone in hs and is just getting really out worked from all angles.Impressed with Correnti going at Mattiace. He looks too be struggling at that weight and hopefully the staff smartens up and makes him go back to heavy.

125: Brandon Paetzell (#RUWR) ends his tournament with a 6-2 win over Charlie Lenox (NC State). He closes the day with a 3-1 record.

McDonald and Gross appears to be tweeners w no 220 weight class, a problem just like it was for Camp, and maybe Correnti as well.

125: Sean McCabe (#RUWR) falls, 4-0, against No. 13 Nathan Kraisser (Campbell). He ends his tournament 3-1.

Next :
141-Mat 3: No. 5 Anthony Ashnault (#RUWR) vs. No. 6 Kevin Jack (NC State)

141: No. 5 Anthony Ashnault (#RUWR) loses a tight one, 2-0, to No. 6 Kevin Jack (NC State).

Horrible 2nd period reffing In Ashnault match.. Jack was hanging the whole period.. Not one try to even attempt a turn... Should've been banged at least 3 times for stalling!!

Why would he take down????? Come on guys. I can't be the only one who new he wasn't getting out from under there!!! He had a way to go

Thought it was a good solid ride. Bad strategy (if you could call it that) on our part. Ash didn't really do much of anything until the final minute.

All do respect, this is a big over reaction. 141 is his ideal weight.

Probably an overreaction, but I had this conversation last year at The Nationals with friends, as AA often seems smaller , shorter, a bit weaker, but not slower of course, than the top guys at 141. Kolodzik certainly seems stronger, and as quick, same for the kid McKenna and the kid who won 141 last season, (Heil ?)

Personally I've never really noticed a size difference with most 141lbers. Jack is huge for the weight and makes almost everyone look small.

Guess we'll agree to disagree.. Riding is when you are controlling the action on top, looking to turn your opponent... All Jack was doing was reacting to Ashnaults moves from bottom...That isn't riding, that's hanging on
