Horrible way to end the season for Oregon

Not boxing out twice after four straight NC FT misses. The same way Michigan blew it against Oregon.

Can't stand NC. GO Zags!
The first time " good for you ", the second time " shame on me ".
The fourth time wasn't a charm for Oregon either.

The first tap back was bad D.. but that second.. that was a blatant push in the back by a guy ho had missed 2 FTs a second ago.. then he follows it up going over the top.. damn ref should have called that.. send the cheaters home.

I thought the Oregon kid should have taken a dive there. Probably would have gotten the call.

To the kid's credit, he owned up to not boxing out. It must have been hard for him to make that statement so soon after losing. Good kid.

Gettys would have grabbed the board there. The Oregon kid got caught starring badly on the first rebound. The second one Meeks flat out bullied him with his size after failing to get position. Now we know why Pike stresses such fundamental.

It comes with a risk if you take a dive and nothing is called, you pretty much eliminate any chance of getting the ball yourself if there is a loose ball. Aside from the fact he had no time to think that through

. Also the refs might not have wanted to make a game changing decision, although they should make the call if it is a foul

Games between evenly matched opponents always comes down to a few key plays at the end where shots are made or missed ,fouls are called or missed and the same applies to rebounds. In hindsight it could be said that Oregon lost with all the turnovers at the beginning of the game which were missed opportunities to score.Bottom line this was a exciting game to watch with runs by both teams and nobody knew who was going to win the game until the last missed foul shot.

Yep.

In a 1 point game both teams can probably point to 20 different plays that could have or should have been different.

if you can't get a rebound off a missed free throw in two tries, you don't deserve to win

Just block out and you have a chance to win. You even got a do over and still didn't block. No guarantee they would have made the shot though.

You get the ball and have a chance to win or you don't and lose. I think NC knows they were lucky to end it that way.

it should not have been that close at the end, UNC played the better game overall but did a poor job at closing out the game

The game was over when Oregon was down 3 and with 6 seconds left decided to shoot a 2. That is what led for them to have to try to get a rebound (and even if they did would have had to scramble at end for a buzzer beater anyway) .. surprising coaching and really bad end-game coaching all throughout this tournament by many teams.

I agree, telling his players not to box out was definitely bad end of game coaching. I disagree with your point of taking the 3. They had a gimme two which they took. You immediately foul. If NC makes both, you are still back in the same situation where you need 3 to tie. If they make one, you have a chance to either tie with a two or win with a three. If they miss both as they did (twice), you can win game outright. I see no issue with how they played the end of the game other than failing to box out.
