"Pike can't coach"

"Horrible loss"

"Bad season"

"Team has so far to go"

This is classic Rutgers overreaction its not even funny. Rutgers lost by 1 point against a team playing out of its mind, then they lose to a team playing at an elite level on the road, player gets arrested in a shocking way and ok tonight was a dud on a mentally/physically exhausted team in lets face it an irrelevant play in game that has no consequence whatsoever. Didn't Indiana lose like 7 in a row and PSU got 0-11 to start the conference and Illinois had a horrible non-conference, Iowa playing awful towards the end of the year. Point is all these teams had really poor stretches and this was Rutgers'. Big deal! This is what teams go through and accentuated by youth. The growing pains and additions to the team will easily get this team over the hump next year to bubble status.

This was a horrible loss, as was Indiana, as was PSU. I don't know how good a coach he is. I'm not convinced yet. He needs to recruit like crazy next year. Without a strong 2020 class we will be middling and maybe under .500 for good under Pike.

63 point loss to Louisville is a horrible loss. Our home loss to a bad Northwestern team when Gene got hurt was horrible. Fordham? Definitely. A 1 point loss to PSU? Sorry, no. It was ALMOST a thrilling victory. A road loss on senior day at freakin' Indiana's Assembly Hall. Not good, but horrible? No. We threw away a late lead against a depleted Nebraska team today but come on.

Blah blah blah.
You can make excuses for all those teams too.
Carry on. Its Rutgers where expectations are high, and excuses flow like the Raritan. Its why we have the athletic prowless we have.

You play the games for a reason.
Pike was awful tonight.
Regression is a bad thing

You can't use a 3 game sample size as regression. The team built up higher than expected expectations throughout the season and ended on a mini losing streak hardly a travesty and something that actually impacts the trajectory of the program.

its a horrible loss, it was a horrible 3 game ending and we need shooters and recruits

other than that.....
Jesus. 7 days ago there were lines outside the RAC 90 minutes before the game for people waiting for Pike bobbleheads. A 1 point loss to PSU (the horror, the horror), a 14 point loss @ Indiana and a late blow lead to a team with 1 less conference win than us and the program is in the crapper.

I my opinion I believe Pike is a good coach, coaching. I think we over rate some of our players.

Pike has to really recruit. Seems like each year he has recruited better but still needs to get players in here.

We have two openings now, let’s see what he can get in.

I believe a true rim protector is needed, too much penetration without consequence. And a legit scoring option, someone that can create and get their own shot. Maybe Young gives us some of that

You’re my favorite poster but you’re too pissed right now. Sleep on it and do a great write up tomorrow.

We both know if you had a crystal ball back in November and were able to see how our season went you’d be jumping for joy. Tough finish for sure, but that doesn’t dismiss the legitimate progress which was driven by freshman.

Yep and some guys here think one game or few games define a season....Smh.

Like improving to 7 wins does not matter, like 3 road wins don't matter, like playing two tough games against MSU does not matter.

All with 4 freshmen playing major roles.

I only differ in that expectations are not even that high. A .500 season in football or basketball probably gets you a 10 year extension. You nailed the rest though. One excuse after another and yet we haven’t been dancing since 1991. The joke is on is.

such is life in the Big 10, a few games ago Indiana had lost 12 of 13 and OSU was a near lock to make the NCAA tourney

its nice that RU had improvement this year and won same games but at the end of the day we are a 12th/13th team in this league.

this league is not forgiving at all.

i am not doing a post season write up tonight...tonight is about playing like crap and coaching like crap and the red flags going forward. Improvement was nice...for Rutgers..but 3 brutal losses...5 bad halves out of 6 is never a good thing...and another sub 500 season

the optimism will always say it will be better next season...did you see PSU and Illinois records this year..sub 500 and they have improved. Its a tough go

There you go. 500 people waiting for a toy not the game. Rutgers fans in a nutshell.

And we could use a wing guy with length...the type of long arms like a James Palmer, who can get into the lane and finish or draw fouls.

I simply am baffled at the outrage by people. You would think Rutgers was 12 point favorites and needed this Win to get into the NCAA tournament.

its simple...its fair to have expectations...when is that okay to have expectations to beat a then 13th place team at home...or a 13th place team in the opening round of the Big 10 tourney.....gee I guess winning never matters at this school

A concise summary of what happened and what needs to happen.Sadly, its the same old story but the results don't change.

Yes PSU and Illinois are sub 500 and have improved and guess what so is Rutgers! You are just comparing these teams in a what have you done for me lately fashion. Why are you choosing not to take the whole season has a sample size or where the programs are in their respective developments?

bac I wish more fans thought winning was important. The basketball program is getting dangerously close to 30 years without one NCAA bid.

No, we were a team needing to beat a devastated team to put a validation stamp on our improvement to fellow members and BTN analysts and our own fans in the first round of the tourney. And in 2 weeks we went from needing 1 win to finish 10 and get a bye and instead looked like last place team again. That doesn't bother you..can't help you. Bothers the hell out of me.

Whole season? Like losing to Fordham, struggling with shit teams and finishing it off like we did the last three games.

14-17 is not a successful season, it is another losing season in a long string of losing ones.
Everyone who understands basketball and followed the team closely knew this year would be difficult to win more games. Tougher schedule and integrating 4 freshman. That being said, 7 B1G wins is an improvement and next year the expectations will be higher.

what have you done for me lately...PSU 7-3 including a win over Michigan and Maryland, get back to me when we have a win against them. Indiana beating Michigan State 2x, Wisconsin down the stretch and now playing for a NCAA bid. I would easily trade spots with them right now

Pike didn’t turn it over 21 times. That is 100% on the players.

Blaming a coach for turnovers is silly....I saw guys getting stripped, guys dribbling the ball off their leg, guys dropping passes, guys charging, guys having balls slip out of their hands, guys missing entry passes into the post......that's all on the players making unforced errors....maybe nervous, maybe it was defensive pressure or most likely a combination of both.

validation is the key word. Beating teams like Minny, Indiana and Ohio State were great no doubt...milestones actually for the program of course the Iowa game on the road...big time showing but games down the stretch do matter...games in March, games when you have something to play for....500 season. You want to build off the wins and keep it going, RU did the actually opposite playing its worst ball at the end of the year. So excuse the fans for wanting validation rather than a first exit to a weak team..a week ago RU was actually in the NIT running. Its obvious that despite the improvement we are so far behind where we need to be as a program

And Art throws more interceptions than completions...I know it’s not Ash’s fault
Wow. Don’t know where to start. A team with no point guard some how played all season with that glaring hole. Tonight the team dropped the ball and had 21 TOs. Art threw INTs all year and no changes were made. Good try but those aren’t even close.

it may not be fair to lump this current program with 28 years without a NCAA tourney and now 13 seasons below 500 but unfortunately that is where we are right now

next year is year 4..fans will want above 500...MUST MUST MUST be above 500. The excuses have to stop and the winning has to start. Losing to the likes of Fordham, Stony Brook and Hartford can no longer happen.

will this team with a probable tougher OOC schedule be ready to start winning out of the gate. The days of feasting on sisters of the poor in some stupid round robin tourney at home need to be over. Programs needs to toughen up going forward
