How did Caleb move?

Thought he looked fine. Rushing/forcing on O, but had a nice floater, great dime to Cliff. Not worried about his D once he gets his legs under him.

Still looks good on one on one defense. Was glued to whoever he was guarding if they had the ball. Didn’t look too quick in the passing lanes tho.

Started out looking a little stiff but he played well on defense and seemed to get more in sync as the game went on. Quickness and lateral movements ultimately looked fine.

I agree he looked a little tentative and stiff. You are never going to be able to mentally come out and play 100% after a knee injury on the first go round. It’s going to take some time. But like him I was just glad to he was on the floor.

This. He looked tentative at first but i felt he got more comfortable. Glad he played before the miami game. I sure wish we had Paul back

Looked a tad bit slow on D, got beat twice off the ball (one was a back door cut). The brace seemed a little constraining too.

Well, let's go to the videotape. He came in with us up 8-7 with around 15+ minutes left in the first half and we were up 27-13 when he left the floor about 7 minutes later. During that time, he almost shut out Amos, their leading scorer to that point, playing excellent one on one defense, made a nice floater, missed a trey and had a couple of rusty plays (a TO and he did let Amos get an easy alley-oop as he slept on covering him trying to double another guy).

He then played the last 6.5 minutes of the half, again shutting out Amos with excellent defense, while RU extended its lead from 15 to 20, had a block and a nice assist and missed an easy floater and had a TO (stepped on the end line). Then, in the 2nd half, he came in after Simpson got his 3rd foul about 90 seconds in and was in for most of CCSU's run to cut the lead to 11, but he was also on the floor when we went from up 11 to up 28 with 7 minutes left and during that time, the guys he guarded made one bucket, while Caleb had 2 steals, deflected 2 passes out of bounds and made a very nice drive for a hoop.

Someone who is not physically 100% does not play one on one defense that well. Yes he was rusty, especially on offense, which is to be expected, but I believe we will have our normal Caleb back shortly.

I thought he looked fine. Tried to do too much a number of times and dished to nobody. I think it's rust and maybe just forcing the issue on the offensive end. Agree with previous posts that he looked a little tentative...and some of those bad passes were because he chose to dish (to nobody) rather than attack hard at the rim once in the paint. I think he's going to be fine and probably feels good to get that first game back on the floor. His presence made us better today despite lack of production and tentative offensive end of floor.

Does anyone know what the official injury was?

Based off TV he looked to be moving a little stiff but I think it was just the giant brace he had on. Like others have mentioned, his explosiveness and agility seemed to be there in spurts.

Numbers review of the videotape is probably most accurate. Early on , Caleb was winded badly after the first 4-5 minute stretch. In fact, my son and I thought he twirked his knee when he went to the bench and was holding his head and readjusting the brace . But thankfully he did not and was just overwhelmed with how exhausted he was. He got better and his wind got better as the game progressed
His rustiness was very evident especially on the offensive end with little confidence in his shot causing careless passing turnovers. His most confident shot was the open 3 pointer he missed, so he just needs more time. He will likely be rusty at Miami as well but should be closer against Indiana.
Despite his rust and being winded , his man to man defense making things difficult for Amos , their best player , was on display as well, which I thought was a great sign as it stressed the knee to sit down and get up in someone’s grill , going through picks . That was the most encouraging sign to me.

Watched him in warmups and his shooting form seemed way off. Was sort of pushing the ball and shooting with all arms no legs. Was definitely rusty during game action but you wouldn’t expect anything else. Just getting his first action out of the way before the gauntlet was the most Important thing.

Last year Caleb was either a sweet release or a push shot. The push is ugly and terribly inconsistent. I would have expected him to be money from a shooting standpoint...seems like he must have had a lot of time to shoot around. But he was tentative in a number of ways in this first game so hopefully the shooting was a result of that....essentially a tentative/tense shot. When he lets it go and releases he can hit from anywhere. Just has to loosen up.
